Sony Xperia Z3 Philippines Price and Release Date Guesstimate, Full Specs, Key Improvements and Features
The exquisite and luxurious mobile imaging powerhouse Sony Xperia Z3 builds upon the all the strengths of its best-selling predecessors - Sony Xperia Z, Z1, and Z2 - and brings the flagship smartphone line of the legendary Japanese company to a higher level.

Although - at first glance - Sony Xperia Z3 may look largely similar to the handset it superseded, the SXZ2, the new release is actually superior - even if a bit - in terms of design, internal specifications, water-proofing technology, imaging capabilities, gaming enhancements, and even battery life.
Design - Just like Sony Xperia Z2, SXZ3 features an OmniBalance design identity highlighted by scratch-resistant tempered glass front and back panels and real metal frame. The main difference between the two is that, whereas Z2 has chamfered edges, Z3 has rounded sides.
According to Sony, "the Xperia Z3 [which is thinner, lighter, and has a smaller footprint than the Z2 despite having the exact same screen size] blends design and engineering craftsmanship to deliver beauty that will stand the test of time. Its 7.3 mm super-slim rounded aluminium frame and durable tempered glass panels showcases superior craftsmanship that is available in your choice of a new range of colors including White, Black, Copper or Silver Green. At just 152 grams with an easy-to-use interface and symmetrical design, it feels right at home in your hand."
IP68 Certified Dust and Water Proof - Having such ingress protection marking means that SXZ3 is submersible up to 2 meters (6 feet, 7 inches) for 30 minutes in water and impervious to dust and micro-particles. In comparison, Z2 only has IP58 certification for preventing entry of water when submerged 1 meter deep for 30 minutes. You can use either phones to make calls under the rain but Z3 is supposedly more equipped to take videos underwater -- as suggested by Sony's promotional video for the smartphone.
Subtle But Important Camera Enhancements - SXZ3 and SXZ2 both have a 20.7 MegaPixel autofocus camera with LED flash, 1/2.3” ExmorRS mobile sensor and BIONZ mobile processing engine -- but the one on Sony Xperia Z3 has the new 25mm wide-angle G Lens - allowing you to fit more of the subject into every shot - and the world’s first ISO 12800 sensitivity in a smartphone delivering vastly improved low light performance.
Fresh Camera Add-Ons - Quoting Sony, "New social camera apps and editing features will take your camera experience to the next level. Capture an event and your reaction to it at the same time with Face in (shown in the first photo of this post). Add scribbles and animations to pictures with AR fun. Create a movie from your photos and videos with Movie creator. Record from multiple angles with up to three compatible Xperia devices filming at the same time with Multi-camera. Or add sound to a photo with Sound Photo."
Less Shaky Videos - The Japanese company's improved SteadyShot technology with Intelligent Active Mode for video recording "compensates for your movements, analysing dozens of backwards and forward frames, to predict your next steps and make panning smoother and images more stable." And you can get even longer battery life by turning on Sony’s STAMINA Mode, which turns off background functions when you’re not using them.
When will Sony Xperia Z3 be available in the Philippines and how much will it cost? According to our "trusted sources", the flagship smartphone should land here either by the end of September 2014 or within the first half of October 2014. (If you ask me, though, I don't think it will be out locally until the first or second week of November; But that's just me.) As for its suggested retail price, I'm guessing it will be more or less the same as that of Sony Xperia Z2 upon launch last June, which sold for Php 33,990.
Update as of October 14, 2014 - Sony Xperia Z3 has just been formally announced in the Philippines via an exclusive media event held at Century City Mall in Makati City. The official SRP of the handset is Php 36,990 and it should store shelves nationwide within the last week of October 2014.
