THL T6s Philippines Price Php 3,999, Specs, Antutu Benchmark Score, Features
By now, Pinoy geeks and hardcore gadget fans should know that THL makes great smartphones. I mean, THL T100s MonkeyKing2 and THL T200 Cyborg - which were both launched in the Philippines via TechPinas earlier this year - proved that the Chinese company can come up with devices having top-notch specifications that can totally give bigger brands a major run for the money.
That's cool and all -- but the thing is, most THL handsets that are available in the Philippines are still quite pricey. And I was really hoping that the company could come up with more affordable smartphones with decent specs that would be very accessible to entry-level consumers.
In fact, in one of our meetings three months ago, I told our friends from Novo7Tech - the exclusive distributor of THL phones in the country, "If you can release a sub-Php5,000 handset with nice innards, I'm sure it will be a hit." To which they just smiled and answered, "The SKUs are on their way, Mark. Watch out!"
I believe THL T6s, launched in the Philippines a couple of days ago, is just the first of those pocket-friendly borderline-powerhouse models.
Priced at only Php 3,999, THL T6s is the most affordable quad core Android smartphone in Novo7Tech's current product roster -- making it an ideal handset for Pinoys who want to experience what the brand has to offer but are on a rather tight budget.
For that amount, you already get a svelte handset equipped with a sizable 5-inch 854 x 480 pixels JDI TFT display, a 5 MegaPixel autofocus camera with LED flash, HD video recorder, Dual SIM Dual Standby capability, 3G HSPA+ support, and a 1,900 mAh battery pack.
THL T6s runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat - sans custom skin - right out of the box with its Quad Core 1.3 GHz ARM Cortex A7 and Mali-400MP GPU based MediaTek MT6582M SoC that's complemented by 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage that can easily be beefed up using the microSD card slot. Combined, these innards give the handset an Antutu Benchmark Score in the area of 17,898. (Photos by Gadget.Letnick)
The moderately powerful internal specifications paired with the rather low resolution display help eliminate lags and give users a smooth gaming and overall touch experience on the device.
If you're interested, you can give THL T6s a test run at any Novo7Tech store near you; My favorite is the one at Lucky Chinatown Mall in Binondo, Manila. All of the branches have live, actual demo units of all handsets by THL - as well as other brands they carry - that you can play with for as long as you like or at least until the store closes. See you there!
