Apple iPad Mini 3 Philippines Price and Release Date Guesstimate, Complete Specs, Key Features
There's really not much to say about the newly introduced Apple iPad Mini 3 other than the fact that it's exactly like last year's release - design, innards, features, and all - but it now comes with a Touch ID fingerprint sensor...
...and it's available in (Champagne) Gold with 128 GB storage option.
"Here’s proof that good things really do come in small packages," shares Apple. "No matter which iPad mini you choose, you’ll be treated to a display that’s sharp and vibrant, performance that’s fast and powerful, and much more. And with hundreds of thousands of apps available, you can do more than you ever thought possible."
Just like its predecessor, Apple iPad Mini 3 flaunts a 7.9-inch Retina Display with 2048 x 1536 pixels resolution and 326 pixels per inch density delivering ultra-crisp details for a more enjoyable gaming, web-browsing, and photo and video viewing experience.
Under the hood, iPad Mini 3 runs iOS 8 operating system with the same Apple A7 processor, which brought the 64-bit desktop-class architecture to company's tablet category last year. This chipset supposedly makes the overall touch and mobile experience on the new iPad Mini faster and better than ever, from launching apps and editing photos to playing graphic-intensive games all while delivering great battery life.
Aside from the A7 processor, iPad Mini with Retina Display also includes the new M7 motion co-processor that gathers data from the accelerometer, gyroscope and compass to offload work from the A7 for improved power efficiency. This greatly helps the tablet's built-in 23.8-watt-hour lithium-polymer battery to provide a rather long uptime of up to 10 hours with mixed usage. The M7 motion coprocessor continuously measures your motion data, even when the device is asleep, and saves battery life for the pedometer or other applications that regularly use the accelerometer.
Apple iPad Mini 3's imaging capabilities are exactly like that of the 2013 iPad Mini with Retina Display. Users get a 5 MegaPixel autofocus camera at the back with BSI sensor and a 1.2 MP front cam also with BSI sensor, which makes it possible for it to deliver clear and crisp selfies even in low light conditions.
Also found on the larger Apple iPad Air 2, Touch ID - according to Apple - "gives iPad mini 3 users a simple and secure way to unlock iPad with just the touch of a finger, plus the ability to authenticate within apps to better protect logins and data. Touch ID can be used as a secure way to approve purchases from the App Store, iTunes Store or iBooks Store, and with Apple Pay, when paying for physical goods and services within apps."
Apple iPad Mini 3 will be available for purchase at the Cupertino company's priority markets around the world - including US, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, China (Wi-Fi models only), Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Macau (Wi-Fi models only), Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK - come the 4th week of October 2014.
There's no word yet on the device's availability in the Philippines but I'm expecting it to be offered by our Pinoy online sellers - like Kimstore - starting later this month or the first week of November 2014 and to be formally introduced by Apple's official network partners this December ~ just in time for your Yuletide gadget shopping. Kindly check the table below for our price guesstimates for all Apple iPad Mini 3 variants.
