Gionee Pioneer P2S Price is Just Php 3,999 : Here's How It Looks In the Flesh
Got this inquiry from TP Friend Emerson Figueroa on Twitter just a few minutes ago:
Well, last week, I swung by Gionee's new concept store in SM Megamall and played with several live demo units that were on display. Of the handful of entry-level phones that they offer, this one in particular caught my fancy.
Gionee Pioneer P2S currently sells for a discounted price of only Php 3,999 -- that's Php 700 less than its regular SRP of Php 4,699. And for that amount, you already get a Dual SIM Dual Standby handset with decent specs and a fairly attractive design.
Needless to say, Gionee Pioneer P2S is by no means a powerhouse smartphone like the Gionee Elife S5.5 or Elife E7 but it shines in a few departments -- enough to make me want to recommend it to any budget conscious consumer.
For one, with dimensions of 126 x 64 x 9.3 millimeters and weighing only 124 grams, the P2S is a joy to hold or keep in the pocket. If you don't like carrying and using a huge smartphone, I believe this one should be just right for you.
Another thing, when I tried navigating the slightly customized Android Jelly Bean interface on the phone's 4-inch WVGA TN display, touch response was snappy and lag-free. I also noticed that the phone handles multitasking well when I opened Facebook, Twitter, UC Browser, Gallery, Calculator and then the Camera all at the same time and the performance of the phone didn't drop. The overall responsiveness remained the same. I know, these apps aren't much but for a lot of casual consumers, I bet it would be relieving to know the phone's Dual Core 1.3 GHz ARM Cortex A7 and Mali 400 GPU based MT6582M chipset, 1 GB of RAM, and 8 GB of ROM combine to deliver an enjoyable mobile experience.
Finally, I found that the Gionee Pioneer P2S works quite well as a cameraphone. The 0.3 MP fixed focus front cam is frankly not much (it seems to only work well in well-lit conditions) but the 5 MegaPixel autofocus shooter at the back with LED flash focus on subjects fast and has laudable shutter speed.
So there you go. Obviously, I like this phone so I'm really inclined to recommend it.
Emerson, Gionee Pioneer P2S is now available at all Gionee Stores, Kiosks, and partner retailers nationwide. It's available in two colors: White and Black. Check it out, bro!
He wants to know which pocket-friendly smartphone from Gionee I can personally recommend to him. I guess he's curious about the brand as well as the devices they currently offer in the Philippines.
