Meizu MX4 Philippines Price Php 14,990, Official Launch is November 2014 : In The Flesh, Antutu Benchmark Score
"People at Meizu Headquarters in China know TechPinas, Mark. They've seen your blog post about Meizu MX4 and they like it." That's what Mr. Chris Zzy - CEO of Novo7Tech, the official and exclusive distributor of THL, Zopo, and Meizu smartphones in the Philippines - told me during my friendly conversation with the team over sumptuous dinner last night.
As a Pinoy tech blogger whose goal (among many others) is to make all international tech companies realize that the Philippines is a bustling technology hub that's definitely worthy of being considered a key and priority market, that totally put a smile of my face.
I hope that entry had somehow been able to help our friends from Novo7Tech in convincing the peeps at Shenzhen to bring this exciting flagship release here a lot sooner than most consumers had expected.
To be honest, my love story with Meizu merely started last month when our friends from Novo7Tech gave me first dibs on the Meizu MX3 and let me play with the handset. Holding it and swiping on its display, it didn't take long for me to realize that the device represents a marriage of great hardware and stunning software; It wasn't hard to fall in love with it instantly. Ever since that moment, I began reading more about Meizu and looking forward to seeing the Chinese company's new flagship smartphone, the Meizu MX4, in the flesh.
Yesterday, it finally came true. And on top of that, Sir Chris, Sir Oliver, and Sir Adrian of Novo7Tech even shared with me exciting news about the handset's availability in the Philippines.
True to what they promised several weeks ago, Novo7Tech will indeed be bringing Meizu MX4 to the Philippines soon! Just how soon? Well - get this - it's already arriving locally next month, November 2014. That's far earlier than my December 2014 to January 2015 guesstimate for its release date and availability in Pinas. *giddy*
What's so special about this smartphone, you ask? Well, it's just the first device anywhere in the world to be powered by MediaTek's new Octa Core chipset with Big Little Technology, the MT6595 which incorporates a Quad Core 2.2 GHz ARM Cortex A17 CPU plus Quad Core 1.7 GHz Cortex ARM A7 CPU and PowerVR H6200MP4 GPU, and supports LTE connectivity.
Aside from its stellar innards, as I've shared in previous entry, Meizu MX4 is equipped with a 5.36-inch 1152 x 1920 pixels IPS display (slightly wider than the 1080 x 1920 pixels screens we find on most smartphones these days) underneath scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass 3, a 20.7 MegaPixel autofocus camera with Sony IMX 220 lens, Two Tone Flash and Image Stabilization, a 4K video recorder, and a rather hefty 3,100 mAh Li-Ion battery pack.
Design-wise, Meizu MX4 leaves little to be desired as it's already right up there in terms of aesthetics. I mean, these photos speak for themselves. The ultra-thin frame, the tapered sides, the real metal frame, and the plastic back plate with sleek metallic finish give it an air of elegance that you'd rarely see on phones in its price echelon. I'd say this is smartphone that can sit beside the Apple iPhone 6 and not feel a bit shy because of how it looks.
The device runs Android 4.4.4 KitKat with latest version of the Chinese company's very own Flyme UI, called Flyme 4.0, on top of it. As I've shown you in my exclusive interview video with Mr. Adrian Lim for our Meizu MX3 Giveaway, the app-drawer free and ultra-cute Flyme user interface doesn't only look neat and unique but is also very intuitive. The freshest version of the UI was made even simpler and less complicated to use. Some of the key features include gesture support for the home button, the ability to adjust brightness simply by swiping on the right part of the display when viewing photos, and the Smart Bar that changes its set of buttons depending on which app you're using, among many others.
So how much will it be? TP Friends, Meizu MX4 16 GB version will sell for just Php 14,990 when stocks arrive next month. Believe it! At that price, obviously, this handset is already a steal. Is it perfect, you ask? Nope, it would have been nice if it had Dual SIM Dual Standby capability and a microSD card slot. But given its Design, Display, Internal Hardware, LTE support, Large Battery and Multimedia Features - along with its affordable price tag - I'm finding it hard to demand more from this undeniably incredible release.

Having such a powerful chipset - that's complemented by 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of ROM - allows MX4 to deliver exceptional gaming and overall touch experience as reflected in its unbelievable Antutu Benchmark Score of 51,406! It's so high, even Antutu itself calls this device a Monster!
