Nokia Lumia 830 Philippines Price Php 18,990, Specs, Release Date, Features
Sure, Nokia Lumia 830's display and internal specifications are largely the same as that of Android smartphones by our local players that sell for less than Php 6,000 -- but we have to keep in mind that this handset's Windows Phone operating system - just like iOS - doesn't really need powerhouse hardware to deliver a smooth and enjoyable touch experience.
Anyway, there are three things I find particularly attractive about Nokia Lumia 830.
First, it has a real metal frame - akin to what's on the more expensive Nokia Lumia 930 - that gives it an air of both elegance and durability -- just like what's expected from a flagship release.
Unlike other smartphones with aluminum shell, Lumia 830 has a plastic back plate - available in Green, Orange, Black, and White - that's 'swappable', giving you access to the phone's removable battery pack and the microSD card memory expansion slot supporting up to 128 GB.
Second, Nokia Lumia 830 runs the latest version of Windows Phone 8.1 with Lumia Denim, providing faster connections to everything that matters with Notification Center, Live Tiles, and Microsoft Office.
It also comes bundled with other services by the Redmond Giant including Microsoft OneDrive and Microsoft Office with Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint available out of the box for leading productivity on the go. Live, sync, and instantly share with 15GB of OneDrive storage (boosting the phone's already sizable 16 GB of ROM), which securely connects content with friends, family, and colleagues on the go.
Finally, priced at Php 18,990 (previously Php 20,490), the LTE-enabled Lumia 830 is the most affordable smartphone by Nokia and Microsoft - upon launch - to ship with the Finnish company's legendary PureView Imaging Innovation. As you all know, even before Nokia's Mobile Devices business was acquired by Microsoft, the brand has been widely regarded the maker of the best cameraphones in the world.
Mr. Karel Holub - General Manager of Microsoft Mobile Devices Sales in the Philippines - shared, “With PureView imaging, wireless charging and wealth of other great features, the Lumia 830 delivers the best innovations and experiences from our flagship smartphones at a more affordable price, underscoring Microsoft’s commitment to offer a competitive Windows Phone 8.1 smartphone for everyone.”
“The Lumia 830 combines high end style and performance in a sleek design. Add to that industry leading Microsoft experiences and superior PureView imaging and it makes the Lumia 830 an attractive proposition for those customers who demand the best experiences at more affordable prices,” he added.
Expect to see Nokia Lumia 830 at all Nokia stores and partner retailers nationwide starting on October 24, 2014. This smartphone is being distributed in the country by Microsoft Devices Group, which is behind award-winning hardware used by over a billion people around the world, including Lumia smartphones and tablets, Nokia mobile phones, Xbox hardware, Surface, Perceptive Pixel products, and accessories.
Microsoft promises a "fast and smooth web browsing, gaming, and overall user experience" on the phone's beautiful and sharp 5-inch HD ClearBlack display -- despite the fact that the device is only powered by a 1.2 GHz Quad Core Snapdragon 400 chipset and has 1 GB of RAM.

The phone's 2,200 mAh Li-Ion battery keeps you going and even works with the second generation ‘Smart Wireless Charging Plate’ (sold separately), which makes the most convenient way to charge even better by interacting with Lumia smartphones to alert users when it's time to charge by emitting a subtle glow.

The main camera also features Nokia's thinnest Optical Image Stabilization module to date, which compensates for 'shaking' when taking shots resulting in clear and crisp photos and videos even if your hands aren't steady while capturing images - still and moving - with the phone. Great for fitness buffs: The Lumia 830 has ‘SensorCore’ low-power motion sensing tracks motion and location even while the phone is 'asleep' in your pocket - perfect for exercise and exploration - for apps like Bing Health and Fitness, and Adidas miCoach.
