Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime Price, Complete Specs : Affordable 5-inch Smartphone with 64-Bit Quad Core Processor
There was a time in not too distant history when Samsung had complete dominance in practically all Android smartphone price categories -- from entry-level to flagship. It seemed whatever Samsung released then became an instant best-seller on the merit of its logo alone.
These days, however, the Korean Giant's market leadership is being challenged heavily not just by other tech giants like LG and Sony but also by OEMs in China and India and by local players in various territories, including the Philippines.
The recently announced Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime is perhaps the company's latest attempt to win back the hearts of its former fans in the midrange market. The handset is by no means a powerhouse in terms of specs and features -- but I believe it has a few cool things about it that will make you think twice before brushing it off and betting your hard-earned money on another device.
While I'm personally finding it hard to call the Grand Prime 'the successor to Grand 2' because of its smaller, lower resolution qHD 5-inch display and less amount of RAM, its 64-bit Quad Core 1.2 GHz ARM Cortex A53 and Adreno 306 based Qualcomm MSM8916 Snapdragon 410 chipset and its vastly improved 5 MegaPixel front facing cam for selfies could somehow make it pass off for a legit upgrade.
With SRP of around $280 USD in India or Php 12,300 with current conversion, Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime - I would imagine - could very well go head to head with flagship level releases of local players in the country (running on an Octa Core processor, having 2 GB of RAM, and flaunting at least a Full HD 5-inch display) when it gets officially released in Pinas later this month. Its competitors will be fierce - and we're just talking about those coming from Pinoy handset companies - so obviously, Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime needs all the luck and marketing push it can get.

Design wise, I'd say it looks like a love child of Samsung Galaxy S3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 3. The back is reminiscent of the SGS3 - sans the pebble-shape and the high-gloss finish - while the front and the sides remind me of SGNote3. Not bad! (Photos by AnPhongMobile)
