O+ 360 Alpha Price Php 4,995, Specs, Features : Has a Touch-Sensitive Back Panel
In an industry where it's becoming more and more a mere specs game - with every player trying to do outdo one another in terms of their phones' technical specifications almost every month, it's definitely refreshing to see a company like O+ USA, which tries to offer fresh innovations on their devices in an effort to deliver something new and useful to consumers.
The recently announced O+ 360 Alpha is a product of years of research by the company in developing a touch-sensitive back panel that can make using a touchscreen Android smartphone a lot easier and more convenient.
Since phones are becoming bigger and bigger, two-handed operation is becoming a norm in using handsets. However, there are many users who still prefer just using one hand when navigating their smartphones' interface. Yes, there are times when you really need to use two hands like when you click on buttons or when you swipe down from the top panel of the screen but O+ believes that that doesn't always have to be the case.
At the back of O+ 360 Alpha - near the top, where you usually rest your index finger, you will find this '360 degrees geometric figure' drawing. In and around that area, you can swipe your index or pointer finger to browse through your phone's home screens as well as launch and navigate applications, and even take photos using any of the two cameras. It's a really nifty new feature that we haven't seen before on any smartphone that's been officially released in the Philippines. (Note that Motorola X has a similar feature but it wasn't officially launched here.)
Looks wise, O+ 360 Alpha flaunts a very elegant and sophisticated design language highlighted by its high gloss finish as well as the metallic accents on either sides of the handset. These press photos the device pretty much speak for themselves.
Although O+ 360 Alpha comes with more than a handful of innovations and features that are unique to O+ phones including Air Shuffle, Air Share, Selfie Fix (that automatically enhances your look on selfie shots by improving your skin tone and facial features), and 360 Touch, the American company also made sure that the phone's technical specifications are good enough for a release in this price echelon.
O+ 360 Alpha sports a 4.5 inch FWVGA IPS display panel, 5 MegaPixel autofocus camera with LED flash, 5 MP front cam for selfies and video calls, HD video recorder, and a 1,700 mAh Li-Ion battery pack delivering up to 340 hours of standby, 16 hours of talk time, 15 hours of music play, and 5 hours of web browsing. Under the hood, the handset runs a slightly customized version of Android 4.4.2 KitKat with its 1.3 GHz Quad Core ARM Cortex A7 and Mali 400 based MediaTek MT6582 VX SoC that's complemented by 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of ROM that you can easily beef up using the phone's microSD card slot.
O+ 360 Alpha is the more affordable of the two freshly announced 360 Touch Series phones by O+. You can this very cute, definitely innovative, and moderately powerful handset for only Php 4,995 starting this week at any O+ Concept Store, kiosk, or partner retailer near you.
