Oppo R7 Bezelless Smartphone Design and Specs, Leaked : Do You Like It?
Purported photos and technical specifications of Oppo R7 - the 2015 follow-up to the slimmest smartphone in the world today, the Oppo R5 - has just been leaked online. And just from looking at the images, which I believe are legit, it appears that bezelless display will be its main selling point apart from ultra-slim build.
Let's talk about the handset's specs first. According to reports, this high-end model will be powered by an Octa Core MediaTek MT6595 chipset incorporating four ARM Cortex A17 CPUs clocked at 2.2 GHz, four 1.7 GHz Cortex ARM A7 cores and a PowerVR H6200MP4 GPU -- just like the one that's inside the best-selling Meizu MX4. Apart from that, it is said that the thin phone - supporting LTE mobile connectivity - is equipped with a 5.5-inch Quad HD display, a 20.7 MegaPixel camera, and a 5 MegaPixel front cam.
Considering those above-mentioned specs alone, one would think that the Oppo R7 might not have enough unique features to set it apart from some amazing smartphones with similar capabilities that are already available in the market. But Oppo is well aware of that and the Chinese manufacturer made sure that it will have enough cool selling points to grab the attention of consumers. For one, the 2015 release is only 4.85 millimeters thin, making it one of the slimmest mobile devices ever made. And as if that's not enough, the Oppo R7 also flaunts an edge-to-edge bezelless screen that's a product of the company's efforts to come up with innovations in terms of display technology.
TP Friends, considering everything that we know so far about the Oppo R7, I ask you: Do you like this release? Are you looking forward to owning a unit? Join our poll below. Vote now!
As yet, Oppo hasn't confirmed nor denied the imminent availability of this R7 model. Needless to say, we don't have word yet on its exact release date and pricing information. I'm guessing, however, that it should land in the Philippines - and in other key markets of the brand - within Q3 or Q4 2015 with SRP in the area of Php 20,000 to Php 23,000 (just like the R5 last year). I join you, though, in hoping that it would be far more affordable than that.

Oppo filed a patent for this display type in China last December 19, 2014. In this diagram, it appears that this unique display is made possible by a curved edge that diffracts light and extends it beyond the actual display unit, hiding the bezel.
