Sony Xperia Z4 Specs and Design, Leaked! Has a Mysterious Port at the Rear!
Photos of the supposed 2015 flagship Xperia smartphone of legendary Japanese electronics company Sony have just been uploaded online by serial tech industry leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer via @OnLeaks on Twitter.
Considering the track record of Steve, I'm confident that we could very well be looking at the real Sony Xperia Z4. [source]
As you can see in these images, SXZ4 will look largely identical to its direct predecessor with a few design differences here and there, including the new placement of the microUSB port sans metal cover at the rear as well as the new strip-style stereo speakers at the very edge of the top and bottom parts of the face ~ similar to that of the Sony Xperia Z2.
I'm not sure if the lack of metal cover for the microUSB port means that the 2015 top-of-the-line model will no longer be water-resistant like all previous Z-series releases -- but if anything, I'm glad that I no longer have to keep closing and opening that cover every time I charge the phone or connect it to the computer. I'm not really fond of using my smartphone when I'm swimming so it's all good for me ~ that is, regardless of whether it's protected against water ingress or not. (As some of you know, I own a Sony Xperia Z1, Z2, and Z1 Compact.)
Inspecting these leaked shots, I noticed a mysterious port - never before seen on previous Xperia releases - on the left side of the one for microUSB. Off hand, I'm not sure what it's for but I'm guessing it's for USB Type C, just like what's on the Nokia N1 tablet or the 2015 Macbook. Interesting, eh?
Now, as for the specs, 'industry insiders' are saying that the 2015 flagship will sport a 5.2 inch Quad HD IPS display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset, 20.7 MegaPixel main camera that's just the same as what's on the Sony Xperia Z3, and Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system with the light-weight but sleek Sony Xperia user interface.
We haven't heard anything yet on its official release date or price tag but I'm guessing that Sony Xperia Z4 should be launched by the company within Q2 2015 with SRP in the area of Php 30,000 to Php 35,000.
