Asus ZenFone 2 Front Camera Sample Selfie Shots
I've said this before and I will say it again: If there's one thing about me that I'm sure you guys should know by now, it's that I totally love to take selfies. I don't really know (nor care) what that says about me as a person but it has become one of my new habits or obsessions -- and I'm not ashamed of it. I mean, why would I be? It's not like I'm harming another person every time I take a photo of myself. Other people have much more vile addictions and issues in life. Selfies, mirfies (mirror selfies), groufies (group selfies) -- I've taken it all using my smartphones' camera.
And that's exactly what I did when I got my hands on the Asus ZenFone 2 during its South East Asia launch held in Jakarta, Indonesia last April 21, 2015. I was eager to find it out if the Taiwanese company's 2015 flagship can give its far more expensive competitors a run for the money when it comes to giving consumers great looking self portraits using its front-facing shooter.
Specs Check ~ During his introductory keynote, Asus CEO Mr. Jerry Shen (perhaps recognizing that a lot of consumers these days are really into taking selfies with their handsets) shared that one of the key features of the ZenFone 2 is its 5 MegaPixel front shooter, which features an f/2.0 aperture for improved low light performance and 85-degrees wide-angle lens allowing it to capture more of the scenery or subject with every shot.

Having used a number of smartphones that have great front cams like the LG G3, Sony Xperia Z1 Compact, Apple iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, I'm quite impressed with the selfies that I got using the Asus ZenFone 2; I would say it it's currently one of the best out there in this department. I like that it didn't change my skin tone and facial features drastically but instead just gave me an instant 'neat look' that makes me want to instantly share the photos on my social networking accounts.
Right now, I'm just looking forward to taking more selfies using the Asus ZenFone 2 and pairing it with the cute Asus LolliFlash, which comes really handy when snapping self-photos in low to zero lighting conditions. Can't wait for the phone and all its cool accessories to be formally launched in the Philippines! I heard they'll be landing here either in May or June 2015.

The 5 MP Selfie Cam features a Beauty Mode, which automatically evens out your skintone and makes your eyebags less noticeable.
It doesn't really dilate your eyes all that much (unlike Beauty Mode on other smartphones) nor change your facial structure so your selfies are still going to look like you and not some other person -- which I really appreciate. You're just going to have clearer skin on your photos.
