Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge vs. Apple iPhone 6 Plus vs. HTC One M9 Bend Test Results [VIDEO]
Now, I don't know about you guys - but I think these bend test videos (especially the ones that make use of machines) are becoming pointless and overindulgent.
Because really, who in the right mind would put his or her smartphone to such extreme torture just prove its durability? I also don't think the process they use comes close to what could actually happen in real life. Yes, you can accidentally sit on your smartphone - there's that possibility - but it's not like the force from your butt and upper body weight will be targeted on just one area of the device's shell. Come on!
But anyway, for what it's worth and for entertainment's sake, I still watch bend test videos. For all of their pointlessness, there's something oddly interesting about them that I can't quite put my finger on.
That said, here's a new one featuring Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, Apple iPhone 6 Plus, and HTC One M9 by Square Trade (the company behind the infamous iPhone 6 Plus mechanical bend test videos from last year) that you might also want to check out.
So what are the findings?
If only we all could find some practical use for these findings. Heck, I think this Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Drop Test video is far more useful and reflective of what could actually happen in real life. (And also, I don't care if SGS6 Edge breaks when you put a force of 149 lbs on its screen. Come on. I'm already inclined to get it because it looks amazing, its cameras are great, and it's very powerful. For me, what's what matters when I'm choosing a phone.)

So what are the findings?
Apple iPhone 6 Plus starts bending when you apply a force of 110 lbs right in the middle of its screen. It completely breaks at 179 lbs.
HTC One M9 is the most 'bend-resistant' of the bunch. But being too stiff or not too flexible, it bends and also breaks at 120 lbs.
The aluminum and Gorilla Glass 4 clad Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge bends at 110 lbs like the iPhone 6 Plus and breaks at 149 lbs.
If only we all could find some practical use for these findings.
