Samsung Galaxy E5 Philippines Price Php 12,990, Full Specs, Antutu Benchmark Score : Five Things I Like About It
Donning an official SRP of Php 12,990 here in the Philippines, the midrange Samsung Galaxy E5 is in the company of many amazing competitors in its heavily contested price echelon.
There's the Asus ZenFone 2, Meizu MX4, Sony Xperia C3, LG G3 Beat, and many more. Heck, SGE5 even competes with flagship level releases by local electronics companies that feature beastly internal hardware like the Cherry Mobile Cosmos One Plus, MyPhone Infinity 2, and Starmobile Knight X.
Given the sheer number of incredible options in its price category, any buyer or tech enthusiast would be tempted to ask, 'Why should Pinoy consumers still consider getting the Samsung Galaxy E5?' Well, everyone will have his or her own opinions about that. But if you ask me, there are five cool things about this model that should make it very attractive to a good number of buyers who are getting their first Android smartphone or upgrading from a lower-spec'd handset.
First, weighing just 120 grams and measuring only 7.3 millimeters at its thickest point, the Galaxy E5 is one of the thinnest and lightest 5-inch smartphones that are available in the market. I know that many smartphone owners - especially girls - choose their devices based on how great it feels in the hand and how light it is, and I'm sure that they'd fall in love with the aesthetics and ergonomics of this release.
Second, SuperAMOLED remains to be one of the best - if not the best - display type for mobile devices in terms of color brilliance and viewing angles that's available to consumers. Samsung used to reserve this screen for its flagship models so getting it on a handset that costs less than Php 15,000 is a real treat.
Third, Galaxy E5 comes with two cameras that deliver great shots even in low-light conditions. The one at the back is an 8 MegaPixel shooter with BSI sensor that focuses on the subject really fast while the one in front is a 5 MegaPixel selfie cam with top-notch Beauty Mode that instantly evens out your skin-tone for self-portraits that are instantly ready for sharing on Facebook or Instagram.
Fourth, while it's not the smartphone that has the best internal hardware in its price category, Samsung Galaxy E5's Quad Core 1.2 GHz ARM Cortex A53 and Adreno 306 GPU based Qualcomm MSM8916 Snapdragon 410 chipset, 1.5 GB of RAM, and 16 GB of expandable storage combine to give users a lag-free gaming and overall touch experience. The phone's more than decent Antutu Benchmark Score of 21,045 well reflects this.
And finally, according to Samsung, the Galaxy E5's non-removable 2,400 mAh Li-Ion battery pack is capable of delivering up to 11 hours of internet use on WiFi, 8 hours of internet use on 3G, 12 hours of video play, and 71 hours of music playback. That's a lot better than the uptime of other similarly priced Android smartphones. Having used this model for more than a month now, SGE5 usually gives me around two days of uptime with regular mixed usage (that includes sending text messages and making calls, browsing the web over WiFi, checking social networking accounts, and playing non-specs intensive games), which is not bad at all. And if you want to get maximum battery life out of the device - more than 10 days of Standby, to be exact, simply click on Ultra Power Saving mode on the quick access bar; This will turn the phone's display to Black-and-White and decrease the phone's functionality for a max boost in uptime.
And another thing, if you're upgrading from an entry-level Samsung Galaxy smartphone, obviously, you'd have no problems at all navigating E5's already familiar TouchWiz user interface. I'd imagine that many of you would greatly appreciate that.
So those are my reasons why I think the Samsung Galaxy E5 is worthy of Pinoy consumers' attention. If you ask me, I think it's a great release that can stand shoulder to shoulder with its competitors -- even if, admittedly, there are those that have far better innards. I believe the Galaxy E5 has its own charms, which many of you will find attractive.
Samsung Galaxy E5 is now available at all Samsung Concept Stores and authorized retailers nationwide. Again, it sells for only Php 12,990 and it's out in three colors, namely, Brown, Black, and White.
