Cherry Mobile Omega Lite Price is Php 4,999 : Buy One, Take One Limited Promo Details
Local electronics giant Cherry Mobile - which is currently the top smartphone vendor in the Philippines, according to a recent IDC report - will be holding a limited time Buy One, Take One promo for one of its entry-level Android phablets this coming weekend - June 12 to 15, 2015.
'Omega' is the name of CM's line of affordable smartphone-tablet hybrids -- and the Cherry Mobile Omega Lite is the most budget-friendly model in this series to date with official suggested retail price of only Php 4,999.
In terms of technical specifications, there's not much about this release to scream about -- especially when you compare it to other smartphones by CM in this price category, which may be smaller but have more powerful processors and more RAM.
To be specific, Cherry Mobile Omega Lite runs vanilla Android 4.4 KitKat operating system with a 1.2 GHz Quad Core processor (I was told it's a Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8212 -- but I've yet to confirm that), handles multitasking with but 512 MB of RAM, and has 4 GB of expandable storage.
Powered by a 2,000 mAh battery pack and with Dual SIM Dual Standy capability, the phablet features a 5-inch 854 x 480 pixels IPS display, a 5 MegaPixel main camera with LED flash, and a 2 MegaPixel front cam for taking selfies.
Obviously, when it comes to specs, it's hard to call the Omega Lite a 'powerhouse' handset. But if there's one area where this device excels it would have to be in terms of design and aesthetics.
As you can see on these actual unit photos of the Cherry Mobile Omega Lite posted by Cherry Angel - an authorized CM retail outlet located in 168 Mall in Divisoria, Metro Manila - on its official Facebook page, the handset has several design elements that make it standout looks-wise in the company's current product line-up.
The back cover of the phone has a faux leather with side-stitching finish reminiscent of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, giving it a great feel in the hand. The sides on the other hand flaunt a sleek silver-painted frame with rubber grips right down the middle helping decrease the chance of accidental slippage when the user holds the phone.
So do I recommend this handset model? To be honest (and you know I always tell it like it is here in TechPinas), if you have around Php 5,000 to spend on a Cherry Mobile Android smartphone, I'd advise you to get something else - like maybe, Cherry Mobile Flare S3 Power, which has superior technical specifications overall. However, since the company will be doing a Buy One, Take One promo for the Omega Lite - bringing the per unit price to just Php 2,500, I'm inclined to just give the blowout bundle my nod of approval.
