Cubix Cube Price is Php 4,490 : Available Exclusively at Lazada Starting on June 26, 2015
Cosmic Technologies Inc., maker of Cherry Mobile devices, had a surprise announcement last June 19, 2015 at the Crowne Plaza following the launch of its midrange powerhouse Flare X; They unveiled a new line of smartphones called Cubix that will be exclusively available for online sale via Lazada Philippines.
"We believe that Lazada has the right e-commerce strategy and expertise to help bring awareness to the Cubix Brand. We are also confident that with the strong logistics capability and the wide cash-on-delivery network, CUBIX will be enjoyed by Filipinos nationwide," shared Mr. Ngu.
Mr. Barci, on the other hand, said, "Cosmic Technologies, the makers of Cherry Mobile, has been our partner since Lazada started in the Philippines and with the launch of CUBIX within the Cosmic Technologies family - their first exclusive online brand. We at Lazada are very much excited to be part of this milestone and bring CUBIX to Filipinos nationwide."
During the event, I asked Sir Lonson why Cosmic Technologies felt the need to come up with a separate line of smartphones specifically for online sale when some Cherry Mobile handsets are already up for purchase at Lazada. He said that Cubix will have its own selling points and it will also increase the company's target consumers.
But what exactly will that unique selling point be? Off hand, it's clear that the Cubix Cube will have superior specs - if a bit - compared to some similarly priced Cherry Mobile models, most of which are under the Flare series.
Actually, for a phone that only costs Php 4,490, the Cube is quite a powerhouse. It runs Android 4.4.4 Kitkat with its Octa Core 1.4 GHz ARM Cortex A7 and Mali 400 based Mediatek MT6592M chipset, has 2 GB of RAM, and 16 GB of ROM. That's quite a handful for a very budget-friendly release.
Other technical specifications are also notable. Cubix Cube sports a 5-inch HD IPS On-Cell display with full lamination, a 13 MegaPixel autofocus main camera with LED flash, 5 MegaPixel front cam, Full HD video recorder, and a removable 2,000 mAh Li-Ion battery pack.

Dual SIM Dual Standby (Standard Mini + microSIM) and 3G HSPA+ enabled Cubix Cube will be available at Lazada starting on June 26, 2015 via a flash sale which starts at exactly 12 noon. The handset is out in two colors, namely, Black and White.

In terms of design, Cubix Cube features a predominantly polycarbonate shell with a frame that gently tapers down the sides. The camera module protrudes at the rear's upper left corner, making it an impact point when you place the handset on a table. Notice that there are white bands near the top and bottom of the case - reminiscent of the iPhone 6 - serving as distinguishing design elements.
