Friendster Testimonials for the Mobile Era? Pinoy App Developer Brings 'Testees' Back!
One of the things that I recently vowed to do as a Filipino technology blogger is to use whatever influence or power I have to help Pinoy tech start-ups succeed.
I deeply believe in the talent and skill of Pinoys when it comes to creating hardware and software - including games and applications - that are right up there with the best that you can find anywhere in the world. And I know that, often, all our start-ups need are people who can help them promote their work to consumers; I think that's an area where tech bloggers can lend them a helping hand.
One Pinoy-made app that I recently discovered and started using is Testee.Me by Gorated.PH
Basically, it's a photo-editing *slash* social networking application that lets you create 'testimonial' cards for friends and loved ones.
You can get it for free via Apple App Store for your iPhone or Google Play Store for your Android smartphone.
Just like many of us, Ragde Falcis - the man behind this app - witnessed Friendster as the dominant social networking website and marveled at how his friends - back then - went crazy about exchanging testimonials with each other. That became one of his team's inspirations in crafting Testee Me.
"I know that there's something more on the testimonial feature that can be utilized in many industries like recruitment, C2C market places (eBay, Craiglist etc.), transportation (carpooling safety) etc. Sadly, the Friendster testimonial feature didn't get the chance to evolve that much and it was even hard to manage for things such as excessive character inputs or multimedia embedding," he told me during our casual meeting several weeks ago.
He added, "Quotes and citations that are overlay-ed on photos of famous people are invading social media platforms, people are sharing those kind of content to their own social media accounts because they somehow felt that they can relate to it and and make them feel good when they are having a bad time. I also found out that testimonials are reinforcing existing social relationships through engaging and thoughtful content. No one is doing it so I decided to let our team build it and let people send good vibes through the app."
It's really simple to use. Just sign-up using your Facebook account, add friends who are already using the app or invite your friends to join, and start making Testee cards that you can share on other social networking sites. You will even have your own Testee profile where you can display all of the cards that were given to you by other users.
Ragde told me that the app is still a work in progress and they are continuously trying to test it on various Android smartphones. Off hand, I think it looks definitely promising; In fact, it already feels quite intuitive on the iPhone.
Try out the app, TP Friends, and let me know your thoughts about it via our comments section below. I'm sure GoRated.PH will appreciate your feedback.

There are many Testee Card templates to choose from. This one's perfect for lovers.
And you can even choose from templates that are made for specific events or occasions like this one for Graduation Day.
You can make Testee cards for those who are already using the app or you can use the application to make cards for your friends who are not yet in the Testee.Me network.
