Cherry Mobile Flare J1 Unboxing, Actual Unit Photos, Key Specs : Affordable Android 5.1 Lollipop Smartphone
Cherry Mobile Flare J1 presents a great opportunity for budget-conscious consumers, including students and yuppies, to enjoy the benefits of Android 5.1 Lollipop for a lot less.
And it doesn't hurt that it also looks quite attractive and that it comes with a fairly large display and a decent main camera.
Selling for only Php 2,999 (and I heard that CM will offer a very generous discount promo for this model soon), Cherry Mobile Flare J1 is currently the most affordable Android Lollipop handset in the local electronics companies' Q4 2015 product line-up.
The handset is equipped with a 5-inch FWVGA resolution (that's 854 x 480 pixels) TN display (non-IPS), an 8 MegaPixel autofocus camera with LED flash at the back, and a 2 MegaPixel front cam. Under the hood, it runs on a Quad Core 1.3 GHz ARM Cortex A7 and Mali 400 GPU based Spreadtrum SC8830 processor, has 512 of RAM, and 4GB of expandable storage. As for its battery, the device is powered by a 2,000 mAh removable Li-Ion pack that delivers around a whole day of uptime (8 to 10 hours) with regular use.
If you ask me, I think that set of technical specifications is just alright given the price of this model. I mean, it only costs as much as some feature phones that are out in the market. So it's not bad at all.
For me, apart from its Android 5.1 Lollipop OS - which offers the latest Android interface and features from Google, Flare J1's strongest point is its design and construction.
The phone's face is greatly reminiscent of that of the best-selling Flare S4, which is one of the best-looking models CM has churned out thus far. I'm loving the metallic band lining the edges of the glass touchscreen as well; A pretty neat accent. And having held the device in the flesh, I believe it is durable enough to take the knocks and bumps of daily use.
This is how this phone's packaging looks. Nothing to scream about.
Is this the phone for you? If you don't want to spend more than Php 3,000 on a full touchscreen smartphone but you want one with a large display and with Android 5.1 Lollipop OS, you can't go wrong with the CM Flare J1. The release gives you more value than the amount you pay for it and in my book, that's all good.

Frankly, the TN display has bad viewing angles. But it is what it is. If you want something better, spend a bit more and get a CM phone with an IPS screen; I recommend the DTV-enabled Flare S Play or the CM Omega HD Nitro.

The handset's key specs are printed at the back. Again, I wish CM would put a more detailed list on the boxes of their future releases; Consumers deserve to see that, I think.
Cherry Mobile Flare J1 is a Quad Band GSM phone and a Dual Band WCDMA model. This phone supports 3G HSPA+ speeds from all of our country's leading networks.
These are the contents of the box; You get the unit itself, the 2,000 mAh battery pack, user manual, standard earphones, microUSB to USB connector cable, and the travel charger.
