Samsung Galaxy S7 2016 Flagship Smartphone Purported Design, Specs, Features
If we were to believe these uSwitch 3D renders of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S7 top-of-the-line release that's arriving next year - 2016, then I guess we can say that the update to the current flagship won't look all that different.
And off hand, I also highly doubt that it would come with too many innovations we haven't seen before; Though, I'd love to be proven wrong.
As you can see, the supposed new model's design language is largely similar to what the S6 has. Both flaunt a thick metallic side frame as well as a black plate made of glass.
There appear to be a few differences, though, like the 'squarish' home button on the refresh, the re-positioned front facing camera that's now closer to the edge, and the camera module at the back, which seems to protrude more -- perhaps hinting at bigger and more powerful optics.
Earlier, there were rumors that Samsung Galaxy S7 - and all of its four variants, the regular model, the bigger S7 Plus, the S7 Edge with curved display, and the S7 Edge Plus phablet - could come with a USB Type C port supporting faster charging and data syncing. But from the looks of it, the new devices will still have a regular microUSB 2.0 port.
One thing we won't see in these renders is the purported 3D-Touch-like feature that's said to be one of the key features of the 2016 flagship models by the Korean Giant. Like what's on the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus, this display enhancement will allow users to input half presses, which Samsung can then take advantage of in its UI in a number of ways.
TP Friends, as always we'd do well to take these images and other leaked information with a grain of salt. In fact, unless details about these new smartphones come directly from Samsung, we shouldn't take them too seriously.
However, based on the company's track record as well as the progression of its top-of-the-line smartphones, I think it's fair to say that Samsung Galaxy S7 will have a more powerful processor, more RAM, and more updated TouchWiz software enhancements on top of the latest version of Android operating system. Hopefully, it will have indeed have a microSD card expansion slot, which I missed on the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, and far longer uptime than its predecessor.
