O+ NotePad 4G Unboxing, Actual Unit Photos, Specs and Ports Check, Initial Impressions
I've played with many, many products from O+ USA through the years. But if there's device that stands out for me as their absolute best release, it would have to be the all new O+ NotePad 4G!
Clad in real metal and featuring the best internal hardware you'll find in a sub-Php 17,000 convertible, O+ NotePad 4G is three devices wrapped in one package: A 4G-enabled Windows 10 tablet, a laptop, and a slate supporting digitizer pen input.
This is how O+ NotePad's packaging looks. It's red -- just like the box of O+ 360 Series Phones and O+ Convertible 2-in-1 device.
The package - made of paper carton - is fairly small for one that contains a 10.1-inch laptop. As such, it has smaller carbon footprint, which is good for the environment.
O+ NotePad's key technical specifications and main ports are listed at the bottom of the case; The device supports 4G LTE mobile connection speeds via its single microSIM slot; It has 4GB of RAM for seamless, snappy multitasking experience; It has 64GB of internal storage that you can easily augment using the microSD card slot supporting up to 128GB; The screen is a 10.1-inch IPS display panel with WUXGA 1920 x 1200 pixels resolution; O+ NotePad runs its licensed Windows 10 operating system with the new Intel 1.4 GHz Intel Atom Z3800 (which is more powerful than the Intel Atom Z3735F chipset that's inside many convertibles in the market); The tablet has a 2 MegaPixel camera at the back and another 2MP front cam for selfies as well as VGA video calls; As for the ports, the device has one for microHDMI, one for microUSB 2.0, another for microUSB 3.0, and two USB ports found on either sides of the keyboard dock.
Now, I'd like to proudly share photos of my newest gadget with you guys. I'm so in love with it.
O+ NotePad 4G is now available at select O+ USA Concept Stores and kiosks across the country. It's out in just one color - Black - and its official suggested retail price is just Php 16,995! If you ask me, for that amount, this amazing convertible is already a steal!

For those who are wondering, the shell of the tablet is made of anodized aluminum just like the upper part of the keyboard dock.
The loud speaker and microphone of the slate are found on its right panel.
All the ports on the tablet are located on the left side. I'll go through them one by one later.
The slate and the keyboard dock are connected by this protruding module at the back. It's made of plastic with matte texture and while the 'feet' are of translucent polycarbonate.
I haven't removed the plastic sheet protecting the jetblack anodized aluminum tablet enclosure. I guess I just care for my unit that much.
Profile shot!
Don't you think it looks hot?
As promised, here are the ports. On the slate, (L-R) microSIM, microSD, USB 3.0, USB 2.0, microHDMI, and 3.5 mm audio jack. On the keyboard dock, one USB port.
These two slits with inner mesh lining on the right side of the tablet are for the loud speaker and the microphone. The right panel of the keyboard also has a USB port -- so you get two.
The bottom part of the keyboard dock is made of plastic with matte texture.
The slate and keyboard dock are connected by strong magnets lining these two prongs. The five-pin module in the middle of the dock kisses the matching module on the slate to complete the connection.
Windows 10 on O+ NotePad can automatically switch to Tablet Mode as soon as you pull off the tablet from the dock. You can navigate the interface using either your fingers or the IntelliPen stylus.
O+ NotePad's keyboard is quite simply the absolute best that I have used on any convertible in this price echelon. The key travel and tactile feedback are the similar to what you'll get on expensive ultrabooks; The keys aren't squishy at all. Sure, the whole keyboard a bit cramped but that's to be expected given the size of the device; I just appreciate the fact that O+ USA managed to give me a large right Shift which is great when I'm blogging or typing documents. Now, as for the trackpad, it's also really good; It's about 2.5 inches x 4.5 inches so it's quite large and it has a nice textured feel. I love that it's not too slippery so you'll feel that satisfying traction when you do two-finger scrolling.
Here's the IntelliPen stylus. It's about the size of those thick black pencils that we used back in grade school. The shell is made of real metal and it has right-click and left-click buttons.
IntelliPen stylus works a lot like the S Pen of Samsung Galaxy Note series phablets and tablets. You can use it for writing notes, for sketching, and drawing. O+ NotePad 4G doesn't come with pre-installed apps supporting stylus input but you can always download free applications like Autodesk Sketchbook from Windows Store.
For those who are asking, you can rest your hand on the slate's screen when drawing and you can rest assured that your palm won't register input. It's a neat feature that those who love sketching using a digitizer pen would surely appreciate.
