300,000 Units of MyPhone my28 Smart Prepaid Bundles Sold as of February 1, 2016!
This serves as a follow-up post to the MyPhone my28 'Huge Success' story that I told you last January 30, 2016.
As promised, I'd like to share with you the official number of MyPhone my28 Smart Prepaid Bundles that the Pinoy handset company has sold since this model hit the market last December 23, 2015.
According to our friends from MyPhone, they have sold a total of 300,000 units of my28 so far, making it one of their best selling Android smartphone releases ever -- along with the first generation MyPhone Rio. Quite a feat, really -- given the sheer number of competing entry level devices that Pinoy consumers can choose from.
There are several things that make this model particularly special. For one, it's in the initial batch of devices to use MyPhone's new naming scheme for its Android phones - the 'my' Series - and it's also one of the new releases to once again don the Philippine map on its back plate; A previously popular MyPhone design accent that was - oddly enough - left out by the company in its 'Rio' and 'Infinity' handsets from 2014 to 2015.
And of course, this model is released in partnership with Smart Communications, which greatly helped in making it more affordable. Did you know that prior to being offered as a bundled device with Smart Prepaid SIM, this model had an SRP of more than Php 2,100? Smart shouldered a portion of the retail value to put it at arm's reach of all consumers, regardless of their budget.
This effort is in line with Smart's vision of giving all Pinoys a 'Smart Life' that empowers them to create meaningful moments with loved ones and to celebrate their deepest passions via digital innovations and top-notch mobile services. In fact, when you purchase this bundle, you can enjoy 100 MB of free mobile data on the smartphone per month with every Php 10 top up, 7 days of FREE Facebook, Twitter, and Viber access, as well as a rebate of Php 30 every time you load up a mininum of Php 100 -- all courtesy of Smart Communications.
Specs-wise, MyPhone my28 features a 4-inch WVGA display, 5 MegaPixel main camera, 2 MP front cam, Dual SIM Dual Standby capability, and 3G HSPA+ support. At its heart, it runs vanilla Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system with its 1.2 GHz Quad Core ARM Cortex A7 and Mali 400 based Spreadtrum SC7731 chipset, has 512 MB of RAM, and comes with 8GB of expandable storage. It's not particularly a powerhouse smartphone but it's certainly more than decent for a handset that costs only Php 888.
"We are very happy and thankful that we got to forge such a powerful partnership with Smart! Laban na!" My college friend and current MyPhone Vice President, Mr. Kevin Tan, told me over Viber a few days back. And I'm sure everyone at MyPhone shares the sentiment.
This bundle is currently selling like hotcakes -- so if you're thinking about purchasing one for yourself or someone dear to you, you might want to ring the store first and check if they have available units. "We do have stocks coming in batch per batch weekly if I'm not mistaken. These are allocated nationwide," Patrick - one of our friends from MyPhone - shared with me earlier today. You might also want to get the bundle via Smart Online Store, which has just received its my28 stock replenishment.
