Asus is The Best-Selling 5.5-inch and Up Phablet Brand in the Philippines as of Q3 2015
Apart from letting bloggers and members of the media capture memorable Sinulog 2016 moments and scenes using the new ZenFone Zoom and ZenFone Max Android smartphones, Asus Philippines likewise shared with us details about the company's market performance both worldwide and locally.
Here are some facts and figures presented to us during Asus ZenFestival 2016 held in Cebu City last January 16, TP Friends.
Mr. George Su, Country Manager of Asus Technology Philippines Inc., disclosed that the Taiwanese electronics company was able to sell more than 28 Million ZenFone units globally from July 2014 to November 2015, which is very impressive for a company that has just entered the smartphone game.
Within the same period, the company was able to sell a whopping one million units in the Philippines; Making our country one of the key new markets for their mobile devices.
Such figure was enough to catapult Asus to the number three spot in the list of best-selling handset brands in our local market as of Q3 2015, according to respect market research agency IDC.
And since most of the models that Asus was able to sell in 2015 were phablets featuring 5.5-inch and above displays - including Asus ZenFone 2, Asus ZenFone Selfie, and Asus ZenFone 2 Laser 5.5 - the Taiwanese electronics giant, amazingly enough, was also named by IDC as the Number One vendor of such devices in Philippines with 37% market share!
So what's the secret to Asus' success in the Philippines? Well, it's no secret, really. All they did was to give top-notch technical specifications to budget-friendly models that have stellar design and build. For instance, Asus ZenFone 2 - which donned an SRP in the range of Php 15,000 to 18,000 upon launch - already had a brilliant display, industry-leading graphics performance, a whopping 4GB of RAM, good selfie cam, decent main camera, and attractive design reminiscent of flagship models by other international brands that cost twice as much. Mid-2015 release Asus ZenFone 2 ZE551ML is by no means perfect - heck, its battery life is horrible and the rear cam could use a better sensor - but it remains to be an absolute stand-out in its price echelon even to this day.
I'm sure Asus Philippines is hoping that it could match if not surpass the success that it enjoyed last year as we enter into 2016. So far, the company has launched two fresh models - the Asus ZenFone Max and Asus ZenFone Zoom - both of which have already captured the fancy of many Pinoy consumers. But I bet if there's a 2016 ZenFone model that you guys couldn't wait to see, it's the follow-up to the ZenFone 2; As someone who had last year's best-selling model as one of my daily drivers, I join you in waiting eagerly for this year's iteration.
