Samsung Galaxy A5 2016 Philippines Price, Specs, Key Features and Enhancements
The 2016 version the metal-clad Samsung Galaxy A5 represents a considerable upgrade from last year's model in terms of display size, processor, build, battery size, and imaging capabilities -- all while maintaining a fairly affordable price tag for a powerhouse midrange model.
Although thicker and heavier than its predecessor, mid-level Samsung Galaxy A5 2016 sure gives great value for the money as it now has a larger 5.2-inch SuperAMOLED screen with Full HD resolution compared to the 5-inch HD display on last year's model. This should provide users with an improved web-browsing as well photo and video viewing experience.
On top of that, the handset now features a Finger Scanner - for quickly unlocking the device and making online store purchases - and supports Fast Charging, which were both previously seen only on Samsung's flagship S-Series Galaxy models.
Even the design and construction of this release are greatly reminiscent of its more expensive siblings. Whereas the 2015 version had a metal frame and a polycarbonate back plate, this year's refresh now flaunts an aluminum body and well as front and back glass panels -- albeit the one at the rear is translucent and has a matte feel.
My favorite upgraded feature on Galaxy A5 2016 can be found on the device's 13 MegaPixel main camera, which - despite having the same resolution as the previous model - now comes with a larger f/1.9 aperture for enhanced low light performance as well as - get this - optical image stabilization compensating for hand movement while snapping shots or recording videos to deliver clear and crisp photos and less-shaky clips.
The camera in front is still 5 MegaPixels but it now has wide-angle lens and enhanced low light capabilities so you can take brilliant groufies with your entire barkada even when there's little ambient light available.
At its heart, Samsung Galaxy A5 2016 runs its TouchWiz-flavored Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system with the Korean company's very own 64-Bit Octa Core 1.6 GHz ARM Cortex A53 and Mali-T720MP2 based Exynos 7580 Octa chipset (official processor on this model for all Southeast Asian countries), has 2GB of RAM for multitasking, and comes with 16GB of storage that you can easily beef up using the secondary hybrid-nanoSIM slot that also supports microSD card memory expansion.
Despite measuring only 7.3 millimeters at its thickest point, Samsung Galaxy A5 2016 has a surprisingly large - albeit non-removable - 2,900 mAh battery pack that should provide consumers with at least a whole day of uptime with regular use.
One of the main points for improvement of the 2015 release is that it has very limited uptime due to its small battery. It's nice to see Samsung addressing the concerns of consumers - at least in this case - and coming up with a truly better version of the device.
Dual SIM Dual Standby, LTE-enabled Samsung Galaxy A5 2016 is now available at all Samsung Concept Stores and authorized retail dealers nationwide. It's out in a number of colors, namely, Gold, Pink, Black, and White. Kimstore - my trusted online store - currently offers the handset for just Php 16,500!

Check out the chamfered aluminum side frame of Galaxy A5 2016; Reminds me a lot of top-of-the-line Samsung Galaxy S6 from last year. (I would like to give credit to Tech Trinkets of United Kingdom for all images that I used in this post. Kindly check out his channel on Youtube, TP Friends!)
