Blink Launch at SM MegaMall : What’s Blink and What’s So Cool About It?
Last Saturday – March 5, 2016, I joined teens, fellow yuppies, and our barkadas in witnessing the launch of Blink at SM Mega Mall!
The fun event was the culmination of an 8-week SM City ‘Mall Tour’ to introduce the stellar video-on-demand service to hip and active Pinoy consumers who love enjoying video content – including TV series, sports broadcasts, and movies - on-the-go.
At the ‘FREE Movie Weekend’ themed venue, participants got to try out Blink app on smartphones and tablets. Then, our friends from the company assisted us in signing up for a free trial offer using either Facebook account or email address.
Team Blink also prepared games for participants like ‘Guess the Title of the Movie’ and gave away cool prizes including free passes to SM Exploreum, SM Skating Rink, and SM Cinema, among many others.
While watching clips on Blink, teens bonded with their friends in the lounge area, took groufies, and uploaded the shots on Instagram using the hashtag #BlinkAtSMMegaMall.
Those who uploaded the best photos took home even more prizes and freebies. Everyone had a blast!
If you’re wondering, Blink is the product of a landmark collaboration between SM Lifestyle Entertainment Inc. and Solar Entertainment Corp that allows consumers to stream or download their favorite shows and flicks on their mobile devices so they can enjoy the content anytime, anywhere.
Blink offers a variety of ways for you to watch your favorite shows or the latest movies whether you’re at home, in the office (after work), in school (during breaktime), or on the road, namely:
In fact, Blink’s basic plan already lets users make per title movie purchases, watch TV channels for free, get access to exclusive content, make in-app purchases, download videos temporarily (so as not to use up too much mobile data), and pay for the service via various channels including Paypal, Credit Card, Charge-to-Phone-Bill, and even by using SM Advantage Points! Talk about getting great value for your money!
Given all the benefits of being on Blink, it’s no wonder that many participants at the event got excited to make a subscription right then and there so they could start watching videos through the app on their iPhones, iPads, and Android handsets as well as slates.
If you’re also interested to try out Blink, you may download the application via Google Play Store or Apple App Store for free and install it on your mobile device. You can sign up for an account using your laptop or desktop but you can also do it straight from the mobile app. Note that a minimum streaming speed of 300kbps is required to get a smooth video-viewing experience.
Alright, that’s it for now! Let me try out Blink for a couple of weeks and then, I’ll let you know what I find most attractive about the service. For now, I invite you to also give the app a test run and if you have questions, feel free to leave them in the comments section.
