SKK Mobile Chronos Ace, Byte, and Cross, Officially Launched
Local handset brand SKK Mobile has just launched a trio of affordable Android smartphones that are sure to delight budget-conscious consumers who are now thinking about upgrading to a full touchscreen handset coming from their current alpha-numeric feature phones.
Named after the Greek God of Time, SKK Mobile's all-new 'Chronos' series features devices that have rather attractive exteriors crafted from real metal or chrome-plated polycarbonate giving them an air of elegance and corporate appeal.
The most affordable of the bunch is SKK Chronos Ace, which dons an introductory price of only Php 2,299! This one sports a 5-inch HD IPS display, 13 MegaPixel main camera with LED flash, 5 MegaPixel front selfie cam, 1.5 GHz Quad Core chipset (either from MediaTek or Spreadtrum; Let me get back to you on that), 1GB of RAM, 8GB of expandable storage, Dual SIM capability, and 3G HSPA+ connectivity support. But perhaps the coolest thing about this model is that it already runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system, letting users experience the benefits of the latest version of Google's mobile OS.
Of the three, I find SKK Chronos Byte the most interesting. Currently priced at only Php 2,599, this metal-clad phablet sports a 'finger scanner like' design accent at the back that makes it look like Huawei Mate8. I'm still waiting for confirmation from our friends at SKK, though, if it actually works as a fingerprint sensor. Other key features include the 5.5-inch HD display, 2 MegaPixel selfie cam in front, 5 MegaPixel main camera with LED flash, Quad Core MediaTek MT6580 processor running Android 5.1 Lollipop, 1GB of RAM, 8 GB of expandable storage, 3G HSPA+ connectivity support, and Dual SIM (Dual microSIM) Dual Standby capability.
And finally, we have the largest model of the bunch, the SKK Chronos Cross which sells for Php 3,299. Sporting a massive 6-inch qHD 960 × 540 pixels display underneath a 2.5D curved glass touchscreen, this slim Dual SIM phablet comes replete with a Quad Core Spreadtrum SC7731 chipset, 1GB of RAM, 8 GB of expandable storage, 3G HSPA+ support, 8 MegaPixel rear camera with Dual LED flash, 5 MegaPixel front-facing cam, and 2,800 mAh battery pack. The combination of its internal and external hardware make Chronos Cross a great device for users who want a moderately powerful and goodlooking smartphone-tablet hybrid that fits in the pocket and doesn't cost an arm and a leg.
Since the company's launch in 2012, SKK Mobile has consistently churned out affordable smartphones that let every Filipino - regardless of budget - experience the wonders of Android operating system. To this day, SKK continues the tradition of regularly releasing devices that combine attractive design, good build, decent specs, and wallet-friendly price tag; A combo that's especially apparent in their new Chronos line.
