MyPhone my81, my82, my83, my85, my86 DTV Android Smartphones, Launched
On May 19, 2016, via an exclusive media event held at The Green Sun AXON in Makati City, local electronics company MyPhone formally unveiled its latest set of Android smartphones sporting a distinct new feature, which will surely capture the fancy of many Pinoy consumers.
MyPhone my81, my82, my83, my85, and my86 all come with a DTV Receiver that allows the user to watch high-quality digital tv broadcast from he country's biggest networks - namely, ABS-CBN, GMA7, TV5 - anytime, anywhere.
As I've told you previously, Digital TV or D-TV is next generation free TV broadcast that effectively supersedes Analog TV, which we all know is prone to static noise and haze.
To quote our friends from MyPhone, "Ang TV Phone ng bayan, ngayon naka-DIGITAL na! Kaya ang paborito mong palabas sa TV mapapanood na [nang] mas malinaw sa mga bagong MyPhone DTV! Ikaw? Naka-Digital ka na ba?"
Let's quickly go through the models one by one.
The most affordable Digital TV smartphone model of the bunch if my81 DTV that sells for Php 1,699. This one sports a 4-inch WVGA display, 5 MegaPixel main camera, 2 MegaPixel selfie cam, HD video recorder, Dual SIM capability, and 3G HSPA+ support. Powered by a removable 1,500 mAh battery pack, it runs Android 5.1 Lollipop OS with a 1.2 GHz Quad Core chip, has 512 MB of RAM, and comes with 4GB of expandable storage.
MyPhone also released a non-DTV version of my82 (donning the exact same specs), which goes only Php 1,499.
Selling for Php 1,999, my82 DTV features the same imaging capabilities, software, and internal hardware of my81 but has a larger 5-inch display and a bigger 2,000 mAh battery pack.
MyPhone my83 DTV, on the other hand, has the same Quad Core processor plus screen and battery size as my82 but has more RAM at 1GB and bigger internal storage at 8GB. This one has a price tag of Php 2,499.
My favorite handset in this line-up is MyPhone my85 DTV. With SRP of only Php 2,999, this model already runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow right out of the box -- allowing you to enjoy the wonders of the latest version of Google's mobile OS. Additionally, it sports a 5-inch HD IPS display, a 13 MegaPixel autofocus rear camera with LED flash, 5 MegaPixel selfie cam, Full HD video recorder, Dual SIM capability, 3G HSPA+ support, and a 2,500 mAh battery pack. At its heart, it is powered by a 1.3 GHz Quad Core chipset complemented by 1GB of RAM and 8GB of expandable storage.
And finally, we have the my86 DTV, which is made for those who love to take selfies as it has a 5 MegaPixel front cam with soft LED flash. Having the same Php 2,999 price tag as my85 DTV, this release has similar hardware both inside and out but has a smaller 2,300 mAh battery pack and still runs Android 5.1 Lollipop OS.
Off hand, this is pretty solid line-up. As I've said, I like some models better than others -- but I'm sure each of them will have its own fans. If you love watching local TV channels on-the-go or in transit and you're currently looking for a budget-friendly smartphone that gives good value for your hard-earned cash, go ahead and check out one of these devices.

Frankly, this one has specs similar to that of the best-selling MyPhone My28s, which you can get from Smart Prepaid for just Php 888. Not sure, though, if Smart still has units up for grabs since that model sold like hotcakes during its launch earlier this year.
