Samsung Galaxy On7 Philippines Price is Php 8,990, Specs, Features
I call the freshly released Samsung Galaxy On7 the 'budget version of Samsung Galaxy J7'.
This model has the exact same screen and battery size as its best-selling sibling; It even has almost similar dimensions and weight. But it is less powerful and has fewer unique selling points.
The good thing, though, is that Samsung Galaxy On7 costs Php 4,000 less than the Galaxy J7 and - for Php 8,990 - still delivers a pretty compelling user experience, especially for budget-conscious consumers who are big fans of Samsung and the company's mobile devices.
In terms of design, it bears some qualities that we've seen on previous Galaxy models, including its rounded corners, chrome-plated rim, and faux leather back-plate finish.
Frankly, I think it looks like a cross between Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and Note 3, which were both pretty good-looking -- during their time, at least.
As for technical specifications, as I've said, On7 is a watered-down version of the J7.
On the outside, it sports a 5.5-inch HD IPS panel, a 13 MegaPixel autofocus camera at the rear with f/2.1 aperture and LED flash, and a 5 MegaPixel selfie cam in front sans Soft LED flash. (Just for comparison, Galaxy J7 had a 5.5-inch HD SuperAMOLED display, 13 MegaPixel main camera with f/1.9 aperture, and a 5 MegaPixel selfie cam with Soft LED flash allowing the user to take selfies even in low to zero lighting conditions.)
Inside, Galaxy On7 runs its TouchWiz-flavored Android 5.1 Lollipop OS with a Quad Core 1.2 GHz ARM Cortex A53 CPU and Adreno 306 GPU based Qualcomm MSM8916 Snapdragon 410 chipset, has 1.5GB of RAM, and comes with 8GB of expandable storage. The handset is powered by a removable 3,000 mAh battery pack, which should be good enough to deliver a whole day of uptime with regular use.
Dual SIM Dual Standby and LTE-enabled Samsung Galaxy On7 is now available exclusively via the Korean company's authorized online channels in the Philippines. It's out in two colors, namely, White and Gold.
So am I recommending this model? Frankly, for Php 7,000 to Php 9,000, you can already get a smartphone from an international company that has far better specs than this model. Some of which include Asus ZenFone 2 Laser 5.5 S, the discounted LG K10, Xiaomi Mi4i, and Lenovo A7000 Plus. But then, as I've said, if you're a big Samsung fan, this is already one of the best Galaxy models that you can get for within that price range.
