Watch President Duterte Inauguration Online Streaming for Free on Facebook and via freenet App for Android and iOS
On Thursday - June 30, 2016 at 12 noon, former Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte will finally take his oath and be sworn into office by Supreme Court Justice Bienvenido L. Reyes as the 16th President of the Republic of the Philippines after winning in the national elections held last May 9, 2016 by landslide.
Duterte's inauguration in itself will be historic as it is the first ever to be streamed live on social media site, Facebook, and via mobile application for Android and iOS called 'freenet', which is powered by Voyager Innovations, Inc. - the digital innovations arm of PLDT and Smart Communications.
Constantly seeking to fulfill its duty to provide daily broadcast coverage of the activities of the President, the First Family, and Members of the Cabinet and the Executive Branch, the Presidential Broadcast Staff - RTVM will be in-charge of delivering the Inaugural Livestream on FB.
Filipinos around the world simply need to make sure that they are connected to a fast and reliable WiFi or mobile data network and to visit the agency's official Facebook page to enjoy the broadcast, which will run from 8AM to 4PM.
Smart, Talk N' Text, and Sun subscribers who will be on the road tomorrow - away from the TV or a laptop, can still watch our new President take his oath by downloading Voyager's freenet app (formerly known as 'SafeZone') on their Android smartphone or iPhone. Users won't be charged for their mobile data consumption while watching the entire coverage, starting at 10:30 AM.
To get the mobile app, simply type 'Freenet Voyager' on the search bar of either Google Play Store or Apple App Store, look for the right app, download, and install. After turning on your mobile data (and making sure that Load Protect is active), simply launch the application, register using your Facebook account, click on the PDU30 banner on the homepage, and play the video.
"Just a few weeks ago, we told our subscribers to 'Welcome Change'. In the coming days, we’ll all be witness to the coming of that change as we welcome the new leader of our country. Smart is proud to enable Filipinos to digitally participate in this occasion using their mobile devices for FREE, through freenet," shared Mr. Ariel P. Fermin, EVP and Head of Consumer Business at Smart and PLDT
"At Voyager we see a future with no digital divide, with each and every Filipino able to take part in the emerging digital economy. Giving them free livestream access to the next President’s inauguration is a step in our pursuit toward digitally enabling our citizens from today and beyond, through game-changing digital initiatives such as the newly rebranded freenet," added Mr. Orlando B. Vea, President and CEO at Voyager Innovations.
From being a reluctant candidate weeks before the start of the campaign period and after facing a barrage of defamatory black propaganda days before the elections, Rodrigo Duterte has risen to become the 16th Chief Executive of our country with an overwhelming mandate of 16,601,997 votes. A huge part of his campaign strategy was centered around the use of social media and was powered by self-proclaimed die-hard online supporters. As such, many believe that it's but fitting that Tatay Rody's Presidential Inauguration will be the first ever in the history of the Philippines to be streamed live on social media and on Filipinos' mobile devices.
