BlackBerry DTEK50 Price, Specs, Features : Officially Announced!
I seriously don't know what's up with BlackBerry's new product naming scheme -- but whatever unconventional strategy they've decided to take on in that department, I'm just glad that the company is still alive and that it continues to churn out new devices for their fans across the world.
BlackBerry DTEK50, which was formerly known as Neon, has just been officially announced by the legendary Canadian handset maker.
Priced at $300 USD, BlackBerry DTEK50 is the second full-fledged Android smartphone by the company trailing the flagship level Blackberry Priv, which was released in Q4 2015.
Unlike its more expensive sibling, though, this model lacks a slide-out full-QWERTY keyboard and flaunts a more familiar or common form factor.
Looks-wise, the handset comes with a pretty interesting design identity that appears to be both rugged and elegant.
The back plate is made of rubberized plastic with crisscross pattern that gives it more traction against the hand, helping diminish the chances of accidental slippage.
The rim is crafted from real metal, giving it an air of elegance and sophistication. It's CNC-prepared or is chamfered and frankly looks a lot like that of Sony Xperia Z1 and Z2.
On its exterior, BlackBerry DTEK50 sports a 5.2-inch Full HD IPS display panel, a 13 MegaPixel autofocus main camera at the back with LED flash, 8 MP front cam for snapping selfies, and a Full HD video recorder.
This handset, which BB crafted in partnership with TCL/Alcatel, is powered by a non-removable 2,610 mAh battery pack that delivers around 576 hours of standby, 40 hours of music playback, and 17 hours of talk time on a full charge.
At its heart, this 4G-enabled Single-SIM device runs Android Marshmallow OS with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor that's complemented by 3GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage.
So what exactly makes this model different from other Android smartphones in its price bracket, you ask? Well, aside from coming with BlackBerry apps and neat software enhancements including BBM, BB Hub, and BB Keyboard, it also features the company's new DTEK security settings that should be perfect for consumers who highly value privacy as well as for enterprise users.
BlackBerry DTEK50 will be released in key markets around the globe within Q3 2016. Here's to hoping that it would also be launched in the Philippines as BB - to this day - still has many loyal Pinoys fans.
