Samsung Galaxy J2 Pro Price is $150 : Specs, Key Features, Design Check
Samsung is on a roll this year. Amazingly, all of the Korean Giant's 2016 Android handset series are doing well. I mean, flagship-level Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge have already become best-sellers while Galaxy A5 and A7 are giving their competitors in the midrange echelon a big run for the money.
But of all the Galaxy lines, J-Series - I think - is the one that greatly helps beef up the company's shipments. Why? Well, these phone models are very affordable so they move fast.
No wonder then that Samsung continues to release more handsets under this series - with varying sizes and unique features - despite the fact that earlier models are still dominating the market. Talk about striking the iron while it's hot.
The new Samsung Galaxy J2 Pro - shown in these official press photos - was officially launched in India on Sunday, July 31, 2016.
Considering the fact that Samsung also sees the Philippines as a key market for its smartphones and that our tech landscape is comparable to that of India but on a smaller scale, I think Filipinos should expect to see this model on store shelves across the country within the next few weeks.
Let's talk about Samsung Galaxy J2 Pro's design, technical specifications, and key features.
Design-wise, it looks exactly like Samsung Galaxy J2 2016 DTV, which was launched in the Philippines in July 2016 (You can purchase your unit online via argomall.com). This new model also has the same rounded corners and chrome-plated, metallic rim as Samsung Galaxy J3 2016.

The back design is rather unique and interesting. The camera module is framed by a glowing squircle, which I'll talk more about in a bit, and the Samsung logo is placed in the middle of a band of lines between the power button and the volume rocker.
As for specs, Galaxy J2 Pro sports a 5-inch HD SuperAMOLED screen - which is one of its main-selling points given the industry-leading quality and energy-efficiency of this particular display type, an 8 MegaPixel f/2.2 autofocus main camera at the back, 5 MP f/2.2 front cam for selfies, HD 30fps video recorder, Dual SIM Dual Standby capability, 4G LTE support, and a removable 2,600 mAh battery that - I think - is just right for a handset of this size.
Underneath its plastic shell, this device runs its TouchWiz-flavored Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS with a 1.5 GHz Quad Core ARM Cortex A7 and Mali 400 MP2 based Spreadtrum SC8830 processor, has 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of expandable storage. If you ask me, while the processor could be better, I think the phone's RAM and ROM are already a quite a treat for a Galaxy model that costs only $150 USD or around Php 7,000 with current conversion and before taxes.
Apart from all that, Galaxy J2 Pro has two more special features that should make it more enticing to consumers.
First, it comes with Samsung's Turbo Speed Technology that delivers faster and smoother performance thanks to smarter management of apps and more efficient RAM allocation.
Second, as I mentioned above, the smartphone has a Smart Glow ring framing the camera module that make delivery of notifications more stylish with glowing colors that can be customized.
