Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime Philippines Price and Release Date Guesstimate
This particular smartphone model has just been released in Vietnam and India. I believe it's just a matter days now before it finally reaches our shores here in the Philippines.
Update as of October 9, 2016: The Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime will be formally announced in the Philippines on Monday, October 10, 2016, via an exclusive media event in Makati City.
Based on its design and technical specifications, the new Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime appears to be the Korean Giant's answer to 'great value for money' aluminum-clad handsets by Chinese and Taiwanese manufacturers that are now gaining ground in emerging markets, including many countries in South East Asia.
In terms of build, this handset flaunts a real metal frame giving an air of both luxury and corporate sophistication, which is a real treat considering its fairly affordable price tag.
As for specs, it sports a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS display (sadly, it's not SuperAMOLED) protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4 touchscreen, 13 MegaPixel autofocus main camera with f/1.9 aperture and LED flash, 8MP cam in front with Wide Selfie function, Full HD video recorder, Dual SIM Dual Standby capability, and 4G LTE Cat4 support.
At its heart, SGJ7Prime runs its TouchWiz-skinned Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS with a 64-Bit Octa Core Exynos 7870 chipset that incorporates eight ARM Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.6GHz and a Mali T830 MP2 GPU. This capable processor is complemented by 3GB of RAM and 32GB of ROM that's easily expandable via the dedicated microSD card slot.
According to Samsung, one of the main selling points of this model is its rather large albeit non-removable 3,300 mAh battery pack that delivers 'longer lasting power'. And if it's not enough, users can always take advantage of the company's Ultra Power Saving Mode that turns off all background activities to drastically lessen battery consumption.
Available in two elegant colors, namely Black and Gold, Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime dons an SRP of only $285USD in both Vietnam and India -- that's roughly Php 13,650 with current conversion and before taxes. Based on that, the TP Price Guesstimate for this model in the Philippines is around Php 14,000 to Php 14,500 with release date within September to October 2016.
