Samsung Galaxy J2 DTV Specs, Price, Features, Actual Unit Photos
Almost all Filipinos love watching TV. At home, we tune in to our favorite local channel - either ABS-CBN, GMA7, or TV5 - and I'm sure that given a chance, many would still watch TV shows on-the-go.
Aware of this consumer profile, Samsung recently released a special version of the best-selling Galaxy J2 Android smartphone in our country.
The handset in these images is the new Samsung Galaxy J2 DTV, which - as its very name suggests - comes with DTV functionality that allows the user to watch high-quality Digital TV broadcast on the device anytime, anywhere.
If you're hearing about it for the first time, DTV is the next generation TV broadcast superseding Analog, which is often blurry or hazy. Compared to its predecessor, Digital TV's image quality is a lot clearer and the same goes for the sound.
Currently, the big three local networks all have digital broadcast that consumers can take advantage of. But ABS-CBN's signal reach - from my experience - is superior compared to the other two.
Design-wise, Samsung Galaxy J2 DTV looks almost identical to the regular version -- having a rectangle-with-rounded-corners footprint, shiny chrome-plated rim, and a back plate having faux leather texture and metallic sheen.
The same goes for the specs, this smartphone is equipped with a 4.7-inch qHD (540 x 960) SuperAMOLED display panel that's both brilliant and energy-efficient, 5 MegaPixel f/2.2 autofocus main camera with LED flash, 2 MP f/2.2 front cam for selfies, HD 30fps video recorder, removable 2,000 mAh Li-Ion battery pack delivering up to 11 hours of talk time and 41 hours of music play, Dual microSIM Dual Standby capability, and 4G LTE support.
Under the hood, it runs its TouchWiz-flavored Android 5.1 Lollipop OS with a 1.3 GHz ARM Cortex A7 and Mali-T720 based Exynos 3475 Quad processor, has 1GB of RAM, and comes with 8GB of internal storage that's expandable through the phone's microSD card slot supporting up to 256GB.
With official price tag of only Php 6,990, Samsung Galaxy J2 DTV is now available at all Samsung Stores and partner retailers across the Philippines. But if you want to skip the hassle of having to drive to the mall or to fall in line to purchase the phone, you can always choose to get it via argomall, which is one of my trusted online stores in our country. They offer free delivery anywhere you are in the archipelago and hassle-free after-sales support should you require it in the future.

At its rear, below the Back button on the right side, Galaxy J2 DTV has an antenna that you can pull out to start watching DTV channels via a dedicated, pre-installed application.
