Epson Moverio BT-300 Smart Eyewear Wins Prestigious Red Dot Award
Early last month - April 2017, Seiko Epson Corporation won the Red Dot Award in the Product Design Category for its Moverio BT-300 Smart Eyewear for Augmented Reality!
The Red Dot Design Award, which was founded in Germany in 1955, is widely recognized as one of the most prestigious awards in the design field. A jury of experts evaluates products announced within the past two years and selects the best designs based on multiple criteria, which include degree of innovation, durability, ecological compatibility, functionality, and ergonomics.
Featuring Epson's own silicon OLED displays - which are compact and lightweight yet deliver amazing brightness, contrast, resolution, and image quality - the Moverio BT-300 eyeglasses offers a number of practical uses in this age of 'internet of things' and drones.
For instance, it can be used for education as it the eyewear can connect to the cloud to deliver information about supported objects that are in front of it through virtual reality (VR).
In the sports and athletics industry, BT-300 makes training more fun and productive by providing real time statistics as well as engaging VR environments.
Finally, it allows you to see the world from a new perspective by connecting to supported drones - including DJI Mavic Pro - while in flight and letting you view the world from above.
According to Mr. Hiroaki Sakai, General Manager of the Design Department in Epson’s Visual Products Operations Division, "We always want our product designs to exceed customer expectations, but the Moverio BT-300 is more streamlined than our previous model. I think the judges recognized that the design achieves comfort and looks natural. We want to continue to make strides toward even better designs in the future."
The Epson Moverio BT-300 is now available in key markets around the world for around $780 USD or roughly Php 39,000 with current conversion.
