Meizu M5s Price, Specs, Features : Sells in the Philippines for Php 8,990
On Tuesday - May 9, 2017, Chinese handset maker Meizu quietly launched a new midrange Android smartphone in the Philippine market -- making it even harder for Pinoy consumers to pick a daily driver within the midrange bracket.
Priced at Php 8,990 and now available at all authorized retail outlets of the brand, Meizu M5s represents a notable upgrade coming from the Meizu M5, which was released locally earlier this year.
The most obvious improvement is in terms of design and build -- for whereas the M5 had a polycarbonate shell, the M5s flaunts a unibody, CNC-prepared anodized aluminum body, which is not only more durable but also more elegant looking.
The screen also saw an enhancement. Compared to the previous model which only had a 5.2-inch HD IPS display, M5s' similarly sized screen now has a Full HD resolution, resulting in higher pixel density and better clarity.
Underneath the shell, Meizu M5s runs its FlyMe-OS-skinned Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system with a 64-Bit Octa Core ARM Cortex A53 and Mali T720 GPU based MediaTek MT6753 processor, has 3GB of RAM, and comes with 32GB of internal storage that's expandable using the hybrid secondary nanoSIM slot that doubles as a microSD card slot. This set of innards is a clear improvement coming from the MT6580 processor, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB ROM of the Php 6,990 Meizu M5.
As for imaging capabilities, the specifications remain unchanged coming this phone's predecessor. It still has a 13 MegaPixel rear camera with PDAF, f/2.2 aperture, and Dual Tone LED flash. And the front cam is still 5 MegaPixels with f/2.0 aperture for good low light performance.
Overall, to put it simply, Meizu M5s is a more sleek, more durable, and more powerful version of the M5. And on a separate note, you can also see it as but a smaller version of the 5.5-inch Meizu M5 Note, which costs just Php 1,000 more.
