Epson Philippines Gives Back to The Filipino Community Through 'Gift of Brightness' Program

Did you know that apart from being the leading printer brand across the world, EPSON is also one of the most active companies when it comes to giving back to society?

It's true.

In fact, here in our country, EPSON Philippines has what they call "Gift of Brightness" programs through which they provide deserving schools and students with tools, skills, and materials that they can use to enhance the learning experience.

Launched in December 2017, EPSON's Gift of Brightness (GoB) aims to equip deserving schools and students who lack technology resources to support the faculty and to help students in their school requirements. Each of the beneficiary schools received Epson printers, projectors, document camera and other Epson products and supplies.

Last August 16, 2017, Epson Philippines awarded the Top 5 students in its Gift of Brightness (GoB) Honor Roll Essay Writing Contest, an activity that encourages students from the beneficiary schools to share stories on how the Epson products helped them make learning an exciting and productive experience.

The winners were each awarded an Epson Honor Roll Baon Package, while their respective schools received Epson inks and ribbons to be used in the previously donated Epson printers.

The winning essays for the GoB Honor Roll Contest are:

“Makabagong Teknolohiya” by Jesamel A. Gamit – Grade 6
San Jose Elementary School Pag-ibig sa Nayon Annex, Quezon City

“Visualist” by Zean Clifford Gaut Dellera, Grade Vi-Camia San Joaquin Central School, San Joaquin Palo, Leyte

“Uplifting the Youth to the 21st century” by Mariah Jen P. Lorenzo
School Ninoy Aquino Elementary School

“My Door for the 21st century” by Hailey Seloterio
School: Ninoy Aquino Elementary School

“The Change Just Came” by Marinzki R. Victorio
School: Ninoy Aquino Elementary School

The schools of the winning students also received Epson inks and ribbons to be used in the Epson-donated printers.

“For this GoB Honor Roll essay-writing contest, we asked the students to write about how the Epson technology package helped them in their studies. We were truly inspired by the stories we received from them, motivating us to help more schools under this program, “ shares Ms. Donna V. Ferro, Head of Marketing Communications and PR, Epson Philippines.

Epson Philippines has just finished awarding a new set of 15 schools last March 2017, bringing the current total of GoB beneficiaries to 45 schools, with another batch for selection within this year.

We are focusing on selecting schools from areas that have yet to receive a similar donation, and we are working with partners from both the private and government sectors to help us complete this latest batch. We also plan to continue initiating projects like the Honor Roll Essay Writing, so we can inspire the students in their learning journey,” concludes Ms. Ferro.

On the other hand, on April 30, 2017, Epson Philippines provided technical training to the Family Life Missions and the Lantern Vision Learning Center in Las Pinas City to help the custodians utilize the Epson products that were donated under the Epson Gift of Brightness (GoB). These training sessions were put into place to enable the school faculty and students to be equipped in using the Technology Package.

The beneficiary school had earlier received an Epson Technology package that includes the L220 Multifunction Color Printers and L Series Inks; M100 Single Function Monochrome Printers and Inks; an LQ310 Dot Matrix Printer and SIDM Ribbons, LW400 Label Printers and LW Ribbons, Epson projectors and a document camera.

Family Life Missions is a non-profit organization that helps poor communities in the Las Pinas area through providing free pre-school education through its Lantern Vision Learning Center. The center also provides free meals to its young students, as well as free school supplies. Most of the materials come from various donations to the NGO.

“These technical training sessions for all schools that received the Epson GoB Technology Package ensure that we also provide relevant assistance to the custodians and students on the proper usage and maintenance, so that they can have confidence in deploying the use of these products for teaching and learning,” said Mr. Ed Bonoan, Senior General Manager and Head of Marketing, Epson Philippines

Since the launch of the Epson Gift of Brightness, Epson has partnered with key media and government institutions to select the most-deserving and in-need schools that can benefit from the technologically advanced equipment including high-volume printers, high brightness projectors and user-friendly scanners.

The Epson Gift of Brightness program is our advocacy for education and the Filipino youth. After our first partnership with the Department of Education last year, we are now embarking on another batch of beneficiaries of the Epson-DepEd Gift of Brightness, and some other schools that have directly asked Epson for help. We are focusing on selecting schools from areas that have yet to receive a similar donation. The new batch of GoB schools will be very soon,” concludes Ms. Donna V. Ferro.

This is very inspiring, indeed. Great job, EPSON Philippines!
