Nokia 8 Price in the Philippines is Php 29,990, Polished Blue Version Looks Great!

According to our friends from HMD Philippines, as yet, it's not likely that our market would receive the Polished Copper version of recently released Nokia 8.

I guess that handset color is doing quite well in other key markets of the company so they've decided to allocated more units to those territories; That's just my hunch.

I know many of you have been waiting for that specific color variant of the Nokia 8 -- but personally, I'm already happy with the Polished Blue version.

As some of you know, blue is my favorite color so this one's just right for me.

Join me as I take a close look at this version.

I like the fact HMD Global chose Gold as the color of the lining for the camera module at the back as well as for all the hardware buttons. It just made the smartphone look all the more classy and elegant.

My favorite part of the handset is - of course - the sleek back with curved edged and rounded corners.

It's crafted from a single piece of aluminum, which makes it durable enough to survive the knocks and bumps of daily use all while being a joy to have in the hand.

The high gloss paint finish of Nokia 8 Polished Blue is largely similar to that of the Apple iPhone 7 Jet Black version. Is it prone to scratches, you ask? Well, I haven't played with the device that much to know for sure. Let me get back to you on that.

If you're wondering, here's what's written at the back of Nokia - near the rear: "Designed by HMD Global Oy, Karaportti 2 02610 Espoo Finland, Model TA-1004, Made in China"

Nokia 8 sports a 5.3-inch 1440 x 2560 pixels IPS display, which is far bigger than what's on the Apple iPhone 8 and also has a higher resolution.

Although this screen is not quite as big nor as beautiful as the one on Samsung Galaxy S8, I'd say that it's size is good enough to deliver an enjoyable social media, movie viewing, and website browsing experience. It could be bigger but as it is, it works.

Another cool thing about the design of this smartphone is its very discreet antenna band placement.

In this Polished Blue, at least, you'd have to really look hard to find the antenna lines that are located at the back, on either poles of the device.

As you can tell, in terms of design, I'm thoroughly impressed with this handset. When it comes to looks, I can safely say that Nokia 8 is one of the best smartphones you can get this year.

Now, on to the phone's technical specifications and key features.

As I've shared previously, the highlight of this model is its Dual 12 MegaPixel f/2.0 Carl Zeiss lenses at the back; One takes images in color while the other, in monochrome. These two optics work together to allow Nokia 8 to snap photos with better contrast and dynamic range in various lighting conditions.

There's also another 13 MegaPixel camera in front, above the display, for taking selfies. This shooter works with the rear camera module to deliver what HMD Global calls "Bothie" photos and videos that let you show both your face as well as what's in front of you in every shot. More about this feature in TechPinas soon!

Inside its beautiful enclosure, Nokia 8 runs its Android 7.1 Nougat operating system right-out-of-the-box with a 64-Bit Octa Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor with the beastly Adreno 540 GPU that's complemented by 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage that's expandable via the hybrid secondary nanoSIM slot. The handset is powered by non-removable 3,090 mAh Li-Ion battery pack with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 support.

According to HMD Philippines, Nokia 8 - along with Nokia 6, 5, and 3 - will get Android 8.0 Oreo eventually, allowing users to experience the latest and most advanced features of Google's mobile operating system.

To wrap this up, for now, the official SRP of Nokia 8 in the Philippines is Php 29,990, which is far lower than our initial price guesstimate for the handset at Php 35,000. You can now available this high-end model at all official retail partners of HMD Global nationwide.

Oh, and aside from this Polished Blue version, Nokia 8 is also available in Steel (Grey) here in our country. Stay tuned for our full review.
