Starmobile Up Selfie Price is Php 6,990, Has Dual Front Cam, Arriving in Mid-December 2017

Local tech brand Starmobile has been pretty quiet these past few months -- at least, compared to its erstwhile rival, Cherry Mobile.

In fact, the Happy-Man-brand hasn't launched a full-fledged Android smartphone since the start of Q3 2017 -- if my memory serves me right. Quite odd, right?

What's good, though, is that I've just received information from their PR agency regarding an upcoming new handset from the company.

Surely, I thought, this is something that will put a smile on the faces of Starmobile's millions of fans across the country.

The all-new Starmobile Up Selfie - also known as StarSelfie - is targeted towards hip and trendy consumers, including millennials, who love to snap self-portraits just as much as taking groufies with their friends and loved ones.

As such, the key selling point of this model is its Dual front facing camera module, which is made of up a 13 MegaPixel shooter with standard field of view for selfies along with another 13 MegaPixel wide-angle lens for capturing group photos with ease.

Frankly, this module seems to be largely similar to that of the OPPO F3 from last year, if you still remember that. I'm just not sure if the image quality by both cameras will be up to par; I'll have to give this model a test run first, then I'll let you know.

As for other technical specifications, Up Selfie has a 5.2-inch HD IPS display, another 13 MegaPixel camera at the back with autofocus lens and LED flash, removable 2,900 mAh battery pack delivering up to 10 hours of regular use, Dual SIM Dual Standby capability, USB On-The-Go, and 4G LTE 700 MHz support.

Under the hood, this smartphone runs its Android 7.0 Nougat operating system (that's "Google Certified", according to Starmobile) with a 64-Bit Quad Core ARM Cortex A53 and Mali-T720 based MediaTek MT6737 processor, has 3GB of RAM, and has 16GB of expandable on-board storage.

The handset's rear-mounted Fingerprint Scanner adds another layer of privacy as well as security, and allows the user to quickly unlock the interface with but a touch of a finger.

Starmobile Up Selfie will be available at all Starmobile Concept Stores and authorized retail channels - both in malls and online - by mid-December 2017 with an official suggested retail price of Php 6,990.
