Huawei Nova 2 Lite Specs, Actual Photos: Previewed in Bohol, Out Soon Across the Philippines
On Monday - February 26, 2018, our friends from Huawei Philippines flew me as well as my colleagues in the tech blogging scene and the local media to the beautiful island of Bohol for a three-day rest and recreation.
Little did we know that the company had another special treat for all of us -- apart from bringing us to some of Bohol's most stunning landmarks, including Chocolate Hills, Loboc River, and Man-Made Forest.
During the initial trip briefing done in the main conference room of Amorita Resort (where we stayed), Team Huawei handed each of us a white retail box containing their upcoming midrange Android smartphone, the Huawei Nova 2 Lite!
I was pleasantly surprised because I thought that we would just be using our current Huawei review units (either Nova 2i or Mate10) to snap images of the island's attractions.
Lifting the box's lid and removing the handset's plastic cover, I was immediately impressed with how good the Nova 2 Lite looks.
I was handed the Blue version with glossy back panel and I thought that the device - with its shiny finish and large 5.99-inch HD+ IPS display with 18:9 aspect ratio - is a real head-turner. Also, its oblong camera module at the back, which also houses the LED flash, is a cool distinguishing design characteristic.
If anything, I think this model's design is its strongest suit. The handset is very pleasing to the eyes and I'm sure young consumers will find its exterior trendy and cool.
Aside from the display, Nova 2 Lite has rather decent technical specifications for a borderline-entry-level midrange offering.
On the outside, there's a 13MP+2MP Dual Camera combo that delivers adjustable depth of field effect, 8 MegaPixel front cam with f/2.0 aperture and Soft LED flash that gives you clear selfies even when there's little ambient light, microUSB 2.0 port for charging the device, and an "ejectable" tray for the Dual nanoSIM slots.
Inside the shell, this 4G-enabled handset runs its EMUI-skinned Android 8.0 Oreo operating system with an Octa Core 1.4 GHz ARM Cortex A53 and Adreno 505 based Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor, has 3GB of RAM, and comes with 32GB of expandable storage.
Powered by a non-removable 3,000 mAh Li-Ion battery pack, Nova 2 Lite gives you around a whole day of uptime with regular use, including browsing the web, updating social media accounts, snapping a few photos, and listening to music.
So when will this smartphone be released in the Philippines and how much will it be?
Huawei Nova 2 Lite will hit store shelves across the Philippines and online within March 2018. As for the official suggested retail price, well, Team Huawei has yet to disclose the actual amount. Off hand, though, I can safely say that it will be more affordable than the Nova 2i. I'm guessing this model would go for less than Php 12,000.
