Nokia 6 2018 Philippines Price is PHP 15,990, Release Date, Complete Specs
The 2018 version of the popular Nokia 6 Android smartphone by HMD Global is now officially up for pre-order in the Philippines -- and those who will be able to successfully place their orders will receive their units on May 14, 2018.
This year's Nokia 6 looks largely identical to its direct predecessor -- having the same diamond-cut aluminum shell, 5.5-inch FullHD IPS 16:9 display that's protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3, circular rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, and oblong camera module at the back.
Nonetheless, design-wise, it does have its own unique characteristics. The most noticeable of which are the Gold and Copper exposed metal linings of the Blue and Black variants, respectively.
Personally, I don't mind HMD Global "recycling" the shells of the previous Nokia 6 for the simple reason that, even by today's standards, it still looks attractive.
If you ask me, though, the real highlights of the 2018 Nokia 6 are under the hood.
Avid mobile gamers and power users, in particular, would be glad to know that this model runs its Android 8.1 Oreo operating system with a 14nm Octa Core ARM Cortex A53 and Adreno 508 based Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor that's good enough to run resource intensive titles. This chipset is complemented by 4GB of RAM for smooth multitasking as well as 64GB of expandable storage.
Oh, and I should mention that this device is an Android One model, which means that it is guaranteed to receive firmware upgrades for up to two years directly from Google.
Do you love to take photos using your smartphone? Well, Nokia 6 2018 has a 16 MegaPixel f/2.0 PDAF rear camera which has ZEISS optics and has a Pro-mode reminiscent of what the Nokia Lumia 1020 has. I believe this set-up should be able to deliver amazing photos in various lighting conditions.
For those who love taking selfies, this device has an 8 MegaPixel f/2.0 front cam that also works with various Selfie Apps that you can download from Google Play Store -- in case you find HMD Global's selfie software inadequate for your needs.
This Dual SIM 4G enabled handset is powered by a non-removable 3,000 mAh battery pack that should be good enough to deliver at least a whole day of uptime with regular use -- especially when you consider that the chipset is in itself very energy-efficient. You can charge the battery via the USB Type C port located at the bottom of the unit.
Mr. Shannon Mead, Country Manager of HMD Global Philippines, showing me the Nokia 6 2018.
The official price of Nokia 6 2018 in the Philippines is only Php 15,990, which - for me - is good enough given its weak points (including the display's 'relatively' small size versus that of competing 2018 midrange handsets along with its unfashionable 16:9 aspect ratio) and key strengths. The smartphone will be out in three elegant colors, namely, Black-Copper, Blue-Gold, and White-Iron.
FYI: argomall Philippines is now taking Nokia 6 2018 pre-orders at their official website.
