Samsung Galaxy A6+ Philippines Price and Release Date Guesstimate
This TechPinas post aims to collate all important updates about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy A6+ midrange Android smartphone, which appears to be the Korean Giant's new hero handset in its price echelon.
TP will update this post every time we get relevant new information straight from Samsung about this beautiful and powerful new device.
Update as of May 22, 2018: Samsung Galaxy A6+ has just been announced in the Philippines. The official SRP of this model is PHP 22,990.
Obviously crafted to go head to head with popular mid-level Android handsets from Chinese companies like the Huawei P20 Lite, OPPO F7, and Vivo V9, the aluminum-clad Samsung Galaxy A6 Plus is expected to land in our country sometime within the first half of 2018, having features that should make it a good daily driver for young and upbeat consumers.
According to leaked information about this smartphone, it sports a tall 6-inch FullHD+ AMOLED display with rounded corners, and with No Notch - a polarizing screen feature on today's full-touchscreen handsets.
By giving the Galaxy A6+ a display with 18:9 aspect ratio, Samsung was able to increase the display size without having to make the handset itself bigger.
One of the key features of this model is its Dual Rear Camera module that most likely enables Live Focus Effect on portraits or food photography, wherein the background of the subject is beautifully blurred -- like virtual Bokeh.
On Galaxy S-Series models, the Dual Camera set-up also makes 2X Lossless Zoom possible. I'm not sure if Samsung is keen in bringing this capability to the midrange level but I'm hopeful that it would be available on this release.
How about imaging performance in dim environments? Samsung's upper midrange Android smartphones from 2017, including the Galaxy J7 Pro and J7 Plus, had stellar low light imaging capabilities, which gives us good reason to believe that the Galaxy A6+'s main camera at the back should also deliver decent photos taken in conditions where there's little ambient light.
If you love to take selfies, you'd be glad to know that this new model is said to have a high-resolution front-facing camera accompanied by Soft LED Flash that's useful when snapping self-portraits in low to zero lighting conditions.
Inside its real metal shell replete with U-shaped antenna bands, the Galaxy A6+ is expected to run its Samsung-UI-customized Android Oreo operating system with a 14nm Exynos 7870 processor that's complemented by 4GB RAM and 64GB of expandable storage.
Now, as for the price, I'm guessing that this model would fall in the range of PHP 19,000 to PHP 22,000 - if and when in lands in our country either within Q2 or early Q3 2018 - since A-Series Galaxy models tend to have a higher SRP than J-Series handsets. However, I'd love for Samsung to price this one more aggressively just to make the midrange bracket even more interesting. If you ask me, Php 17,000 to Php 18,000 would be perfect for this release, given the current prices of its main competitors.
Alright! That's it for now. Kindly stay tuned for updates.
