Vivo Y85 Specs, Price, and Release Date : Out Now for PHP 13,999
Hot on the heels of the success of its Vivo V9 2018 hero Android smartphone, Chinese tech brand Vivo Mobile launched the more affordable Y85 handset on Thursday - May 24, 2018.
Given its technical specifications and main highlights, Vivo Y85 could very well be called the Vivo V9 Lite.
Like its larger and more expensive sibling, Vivo Y85 also has an all-screen face replete with notch and rounded corners -- albeit the display of this model is slightly smaller at 6.22 inches across and only has an HD+ or 720 x 1,520 pixels resolution.
Above the screen there's that polarizing notch that houses the 8 MegaPixel front-facing camera powered by Vivo's own AI beautification software, which supposedly ensures more natural looking selfies even after beautification.
This selfie shooter is also a watered down version of the 24MP front-cam of the Vivo V9.
The same thing can be said about the Dual Camera Module of the Vivo Y85. Whereas Vivo V9 has a 16MP + 5MP rear cam combo, Y85 sports a 13 MegaPixel primary camera at the back with a secondary 2MP optic that work together to enable virtual bokeh effect where the background of the subject is blurred in an attractive way.
As for internal hardware, Vivo Y85 runs its FunTouch OS 4.0 optimized Android 8.1 Oreo operating system with the all-new 2 GHz Octa Core Cortex-A53 and PowerVR GE8320 based Mediatek MT6762 Helio P22 processor that can deliver good light gaming experience and decent overall performance.
This chipset is complemented by 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which can easily be augmented using the decided microSD card slot, which means that there's no need to sacrifice dual SIM capability just to get more space for content.
For those who demand privacy and security as mobile consumers, Vivo Y85 has a Fingerprint Scanner at the back, Facial Recognition software, and the familiar pattern and password unlock feature.
So how much is Vivo Y85 and when will be available in the Philippines? This model is now available nationwide for only PHP 13,999 and it's initially out in two colors, Ruby Red and Black. (Note that press photos of the phone also include a Gold variant, which - I believe - will arrive in the future.)
