Vivo V9 Velvet Red Edition, In The Flesh!
For those who are wondering how the new Vivo V9 Velvet Red Version actually looks, I snapped these photos of an actual unit for you.
Our friends from Vivo Mobile Philippines let me play with a working demo unit of the variant when I attended their Vivo V9 Mall Tour in SM North EDSA last Monday, May 1, 2018.

Vivo V9 Velvet Red has the exact same technical specifications as the the Vivo V9 Gold and Black versions that were initially released in our country.

This eye-catching Edition has the same 6.3 inch 1080 x 2280 pixels IPS display with tall 19:9 Aspect Ratio and stunning 85.2% Screen-To-Body, which is the highest in the midrange bracket currently.
Of course, it also has Vivo's 24MP front cam that delivers more natural-looking selfies even after beautification -- thanks to the company's own AI Beauty Technology.
As for the smartphone's feel in the hand, I would say that the texture of the paint job is largely the same as that of the Gold version.
It's not particularly matte but it's definitely not too shiny or glossy, hence, it does not easily attract unsightly fingerprint grime.
When you open the handset, you will be greeted by Vivo's new Red Theme for this model, which comes replete with Red colored icons as well as wallpapers that match the overall look of the device.
Vivo V9 Velvet Red flaunts subtle design accents including the metallic rim of the Fingerprint Scanner at the back, the black oblong Dual Camera module, and the dual-banded, thin gold lines on other poles of the handset that appear to frame the back plate, making it look more interesting.
