Nissan Terra Price Starts at PHP 1.499 Million, Officially Launched in the Philippines
From May 28 to 30, 2018, I joined our friends from Nissan Philippines as well as tech bloggers and members of the local media on a trip to Clark, Pampanga for the World Premiere of the all-new Nissan Terra, which is the company's first SUV in the mid-size segment in our country.
With robust yet attractive exterior design, spacious and comfortable interiors, and intelligent driving technology, the new Nissan Terra gives customers the confidence to take on any journey, whether on or off road.
Nissan Terra is actually the most recent descendant of the legendary Nissan Patrol, a tough off-road icon that was originally designed for police and military use.
Ever since the Patrol was released in 1951, the 4x4 has taken explorers and individuals who live extreme on memorable adventures into unchartered territories around the world -- be it on deserts, valleys, plains, and even in mountainous regions.
To test just how much of Nissan Patrol's robust genes remain present in Nissan Terra, we took out the new model on a ride through the rough off-road terrain of Pampanga the day after its regional launch.
And let me tell you, I was thoroughly impressed with its exceptional performance.
Nissan Terra's 4WD-DIFF lock system, Hill Descent Control, and Hill Start Assist gave us total control over the wheels while traversing through the many rugged 4x4 situations that we faced, including uneven terrain covered with sand and gravel as well as over shallow streams lined with rocks and tall grass.
Nissan Terra's new Intelligent Mobility technologies, which Smart Rear View Mirror (allowing the driver to see images from a rear-mounted camera), Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Warning and Intelligent Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection, also made our 4x4 off-road drive more safe and convenient.
According to Mr. Ramesh Narasimhan, President and Managing Director of Nissan Philippines, "Over 60 years of SUV heritage went into the development of the Nissan Terra, [which is] designed to give you the confidence to take your family on exceptional urban and outdoor adventures by providing a no-compromise package."
Design-wise, Nissan Terra flaunts a V-motion grille gives a slick, streamlined look when viewed from the front, while the “boomerang” LED headlamps give the SUV a powerful and commanding appearance.
Additionally, Terra's sleek roofline, which flows from the front fender all the way to the tail lights, adds an air of elegance. Completing the exterior are the 18-inch alloy wheels, featuring a bold design pattern that perfectly complements the look for all the other parts.
As for the build, Nissan Terra’s rigid rear-wheel axle, reinforced chassis, and five-link coil spring rear suspension system - altogether - ensure both durability and convenience.
How about the interior, you ask? Well, it's roomy enough to seat up to seven people comfortably. Terra even has a first-of-its-class one-touch remote fold and tumble middle seats -- so those in the backseat won't have to crouch to getting in and out of the vehicle.
In fact, this SUV model offers one of the highest loading capacities. And with premium leather seats, ambient lights, advanced and reliable air conditioning system, as well as overhead entertainment, Nissan Terra passengers will truly be able to relax with ease and style while in transit.
Mr. Narasimhan noted, "[Bringing the exceptional to everyday life], the Nissan Terra will change the game in the mid-size SUV segment, and that it will be the strongest contributor to the business growth of Nissan Philippines in 2018."
Starting June 2018, customers in the Philippines may reserve their new Nissan Terra SUV at any Nissan dealership nationwide.
