OPPO F9 with Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto, Spotted in Promo Material
On Wednesday - August 1, 2018, after a meeting, my good friend PJ of GizGuide and I walked around SM MegaMall CyberZone to check new gadgets when we chanced upon a curious poster for a yet-to-be-released Android smartphone here in our country.
We were so delighted to see the promo material for the all-new OPPO F9 featuring Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto - also known as JoshLia as a love team - that we even took this selfie with it!
PJ and I are both fond of featuring new smartphones in our tech blogs so you can imagine how excited we felt just thinking about the imminent launch of this model in the Philippines. For more information about the OPPO F9 moving forward, keep visiting TechPinas and PJ's blog, GizGuide.
The poster itself showed little information about the device -- but it offered enough details to keep me interested:
1. Inspecting the image of the handset, it's clear that it will have two cameras at the back (contrary to earlier reports that it will have three -- or perhaps, there will be another OPPO F9 version that will have that; We don't know yet.) inside an oblong module with a metallic ring around it.
2. At the top portion of the poster, OPPO Philippines printed one of the key new features of the F9, which is VOOC fast charging, which used to only be included in more expensive models like the very premium OPPO Find X. With VOOC, you just need to plug in the phone to an electrical outlet with the supplied charger for 5 minutes to get two hours of talk time, which is amazing.
3. OPPO F9's design and footprint and largely identical to that of its best-selling predecessor, the OPPO F7. It's a rectangle with rounded corners candybar form with high-gloss back plate. I'm just hoping that the rear is finally made of 2.5D curved glass instead of polished polycarbonate.
4. OPPO F7 will be out in at least two colors. One appears to have a stunning Red-Purple gradient look while the other has an elegant Blue-Black tone.
5. Finally, of course, the promo material clearly shows that OPPO Philippines is sticking to its strategy of tapping celebrity endorsers to make their handsets more popular among Filipinos. This marketing technique has proven to be very effective for the Chinese brand through the years. Previously, OPPO's main celebrity endorsers included Kapamilya Star Sarah Geronimo and Kapuso Leading Man Alden Richards.
Interestingly enough, OPPO F9 promo materials in other countries have shown more amazing details about this exciting midrange model for the second half of 2018.
The social media banner above, which came from India and China, clearly shows the Super Full Screen face of the OPPO F9 with a very small notch! If you remember, OPPO had filed patents for multiple notch designs, which included the one depicted in the image. For me, it looks great as it is less intrusive or obvious -- not that I have any issues with the large notch of OPPO F7.
Alright! That's it for now. Stay tuned for updates; I have a feeling that they'll arrive in rapid succession within the next few days.
