OPPO F9 Philippines Price is PHP 17,990 : Official Specs, Actual Unit Photos, Key Features
I've just arrived home from the exclusive OPPO F9 launch event of OPPO Philippines for bloggers, members of the media, and dealers held at the Grand Ballroom of Shangri-La at The Fort in BGC, Taguig City.
The OPPO F9 is the stunning follow-up to the Chinese tech company's best-selling OPPO F7 midrange smartphone from earlier this year. This fresh model comes with a slew of notable enhancements in terms of looks, imaging capabilities, internal hardware, charging speed, and even display.
Looking at the phone's face, we see one of OPPO F9's identifying physical features, which is its Waterdrop Display -- derived from the appearance of the redesigned notch that now looks like a lump of liquid that's just about to drop.
Although both OPPO F9's 6.3-inch LTPS display has the same FullHD+ resolution as OPPO F7's screen, the far smaller notch of this new model gives users a more enjoyable visual experience by increasing the size of the visible display and simply by being less intrusive and obvious.
In terms of build quality, frankly, OPPO F9 is largely identical to the model that it superseded. Users still get the same glass sandwich construction featuring a rounded polycarbonate mid-frame with metallic sheen.
In terms of actual design, however, this release - for me - looks far more visually pleasing and eye-catching -- thanks to its downright gorgeous Gradient Color finish and the Diamond-Cut pattern at the back that gleams when light hits it.
OPPO F9 is available in three elegant and attractive colors options including Sunrise Red (Purple to Red Gradient), Twilight Blue (Black to Blue Gradient), and Starry Purple, which will arrive next month - September 2018.
As for imaging, OPPO F9 offers a slight improvement over the OPPO F7 with its Dual Rear Camera set-up, made up of a 16 MegaPixel f/1.8 shooter with Phase Detection AutoFocus (like what's on the F7) that performs decently in low light conditions plus secondary 2MP Depth Sensor, which allows the module to capture Portrait Shots with luscious Bokeh effect.
This imaging module - that can deliver Super Vivid photos via oversampling - is powered by the company's own AI software that instantly recognizes the subject in front of the camera (from food to sky, people to trees) and automatically adjusts settings to give you the best-looking images possible.
If you love snapping selfies, you will surely enjoy using the phone's 25 MegaPixel front-facing camera that's powered by the company's AI Beauty 2.1 software, which is made to capture the real you even after skin clearing effect.
During the event, the main OPPO F9 feature that the company primary focused on in their demo booths and presentations was VOOC Flash Charging, which is powerful enough to give the handset enough juice for a 2 Hour call after being plugged to an electrical outlet using the provided charger for just 5 minutes! This innovation can prove to be a real life-saver for busy professionals and entrepreneurs who are always on the road.
Finally, in terms of innards, while OPPO F9 has the same MediaTek P60 processor, Mali-G72 MP3 GPU, and 64GB of internal storage as what's inside the OPPO F7, the upgrade came in the form of 6GB of RAM (from 4GB), which should make multi-tasking experience a breeze.
