Xiaomi Pocophone F1 Has Flagship Level Specs and Midrange Price Tag
I was having dinner last night when one of my readers - Aaron Mendoza - messaged me on Facebook and told that Chinese brand Xiaomi has just released a new Android smartphone in India with flagship level features and a surprisingly low price tag given its specs.
"It's called Xiaomi Pocophone F1, Sir Mark -- and it will only be available in India," he told me.
I immediately opened my browser and I was immediately inundated with posts about this amazing new device. Android enthusiasts and tech bloggers around the globe are raving about the model -- and for good reason.
Consider this: Xiaomi Pocophone F1 is powered by the flagship level Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, which is also inside some smartphones more than three times its price, and has at least 6GB RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. But what's incredible is that the base model only has a price tag of INR 20,990 or roughly PHP 16,000 with current conversion! Talk about giving consumers the most bang for their buck!
Aside from that, this handset also has a large 6.18 FullHD+ IPS display with tall 18.7:9 Aspect Ratio and a Notch, which many consumers have now accepted as a novelty feature.
As for imaging capabilities, Pocophone F1 has a 12MP f/1.9 + 5MP Dual Rear Camera module at the back which is made to deliver good Bokeh Effect on Portrait shots and to perform quite well in low light conditions.
If you love to take selfies, the device also sports a 20 MegaPixel front cam that's powered by Xiaomi's own beautification software that automatically evens out your skin tone in photos, ready for sharing on Facebook or Instagram.
One area where it's obvious that Xiaomi cut corners on this model to lower its SRP is in terms of its build or construction. In lieu of glass or metal, the back plate of the Pocophone F1 is crafted from polycarbonate or plastic, which is not quite as elegant or luxurious. Nonetheless, one variant has a Kevlar finish that makes it look more visually appealing.

In January 2018, Xiaomi officially beat Samsung in India to become that country's leading smartphone brand in terms of total shipments.
