Apple iPhone XR Philippines Price and Release Date Guesstimate, Full Specs, Features
American tech giant Apple Inc. has just officially lifted the veil on three new iPhone models for 2018, each having their own key selling points and highlights.
The most "affordable" of the trio is the the Apple iPhone XR, which has become the first ever iPhone to have Dual SIM functionality through one nanoSIM slot and another Digital eSIM slot for network carriers around the world that already support this kind of internal SIM card for smartphones.
Despite being the most budget-friendly model of the bunch, though, the iPhone XR's official suggested retail price in the US still starts at $749 USD, which is by no means cheap.
With current conversion and before taxes, that's around PHP 40,300 here in Philippines; More than twice the price of some popular midrange models in this market like the OPPO F9, Huawei Nova 3i, Pocophone F1, or even Vivo V11, which all have better specs than the iPhone XR in some departments like battery size, amount of RAM, and front camera resolution.
However, I'm sure that that information won't matter much to hardcore Apple fans who buy the latest iPhones not just because of the handsets' technical specifications but also because of how they personally feel when they carry these gadgets.
As I've shared in one interview that I did with Bloomberg Philippines a couple of years ago, Apple is unique in its ability to sell products through intangible marketing, which appeals to consumers' beliefs and emotions.
As tech blogger who does his best to be level-headed in reviewing gadgets, I am just relieved that this model sports a handful of tangible features that will benefit users beyond mere emotional connection.
For one, iPhone XR's mid-frame is crafted from Series 7000 Aluminum which is known for its durability. The glass-sandwich enclosure is also IP67 Splash, Water, and Dust Resistant, which can greatly contribute to the longevity of the device.
Another thing, I bet mobile photography enthusiasts will enjoy using this model's 12 MegaPixel f/1.8 rear camera which is powered by Apple's Neural Engine that improves its imaging performance in various lighting conditions and even enables virtual bokeh effect when shooting portraits.
If you're a power user or an avid gamer, the all-new Hexa-Core Apple A12 Bionic processor with integrated Quad-Core GPU should ensure ultra-smooth and lag-free experience even when running the most resource intensive titles that you can download from Apple App Store.
So what's the worst thing about the Apple iPhone XR? Well, just from looking at its specs-sheet, I'd say that the resolution of the 6.1-inch Liquid Retina Display is quite low -- and this means that it is not that pixel-dense or ultra-clear. Never mind the lack of 3D Touch, I wish that Apple had at least given this model a FullHD+ screen -- but I guess they didn't want iPhone XR to cannibalize on iPhone XS sales.
Anyway, I'm still looking forward to seeing this model in the flesh and to actually playing with it. After all, I'm loving the color options -- especially the Blue and Yellow variants, which look so unique and eye-catching.
Apple iPhone XR will be up for purchase at Apple Stores in more than fifty countries - including our fellow Asian countries Japan, Hong Kong, China, India, Oman, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Taiwan - starting on Friday, October 26, 2018.
