RealMe 2 Philippines Price Guesstimate, Full Specs, Unboxing Photos
It appears that RealMe, the former sub-brand of popular Chinese tech company OPPO, is just about ready to launch smartphones here in the Philippines.
Earlier this week, a received a curious package from the company and it contained this fresh retail package of one of their best-selling 2018 smartphones.
RealMe 2 has already become quite a hit in our neighbor-country Indonesia -- and for good reason.
This model doesn't only look great but also has more than decent internal hardware, battery life, and imaging capabilities considering its price.
As of writing, the local distributor of RealMe hasn't disclosed the official suggested retail price of this model in the Philippines. However, based on its SRP in India and Indonesia, I'm guessing that it should come in at around PHP 7,000 to PHP 8,000.
Let me show you the complete retail package through these unboxing photos.
Removing the plastic cover and lifting the lid, we are greeted by the paper sleeve that contains documentation for the phone, the pin for opening the SIM card tray, as well as a free soft silicone case.
The paper sleeve adds a veritable layer of protection for the handset underneath it during shipment.
Other items inside the box include the RealMe 2 unit itself - of course, the warranty certificate, user guide, microUSB 2.0 to USB connector cable, and the travel charger.
If you're wondering, the charger supports 2A output, which is relatively fast.
Now, let's take a close look at the RealMe 2 Android smartphone.
One of the highlights of this model is its large 6.2-inch HD+ IPS display, which is large enough to deliver a compelling viewing experience when browser social media apps, watching movies, reading blogs, and playing light 3D games.
The notched all-screen face complements the high-gloss rear of the device that even has an eye-catching Diamond-Cut pattern, exuding an air of elegance and sophistication and making this model look more expensive than it actual is.
As for imaging capabilities, RealMe 2 sports a Dual Rear Camera module made up of a 13MP f/2.2 + 2MP f/2.4 combo that enables virtual bokeh effect wherein the background of the subject is beautifully blurred. This feature is particularly useful when snapping portraits or product shots.
If you love to take selfies, this smartphone has an 8 MegaPixel f/2.2 front cam that has auto-HDR and AI Beauty technology that can automatically clear your skin tone in photos, making them instantly ready for sharing on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram.
Under the hood, RealMe 2 is runs its ColorOS-customized Android 8.1 Oreo operating system with a 14nm Octa Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor that's known for being energy-efficient all while being good enough to minimize touchscreen lags or freezing in day to day use.
This chipset is complemented by 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage that can be expanded using the dedicated microSD card slot -- so you won't have to sacrifice the phone's Dual SIM capability just to get more space for your files.
RealMe 2 is powered a 4,230 Li-Ion mAh battery, which is notably large for a phone in this price bracket. Along with the power-efficient Snapdragon 450 CPU, this pack should ensure more than a whole day of uptime for users who don't really run specs-intensive apps and games.
Oh, and for added layer of privacy and security, this smartphone has a Fingerprint Scanner at the back as well as Facial Recognition integrated with the front-facing camera. I've tried out these features on my unit and I find them very fast and accurate.
So is RealMe 2 the right smartphone for you? Well, while I can't call this handset 'beastly' nor 'very powerful', I can't deny that it looks great and it has good selling points given its price. If its actual SRP will be close to my guesstimate, I think RealMe 2 will be a 'great value for money' purchase for those who will be getting it as their first smartphone coming from their feature-phones or as a reliable secondary handset for those who already known a flagship-level daily driver.
