Smart SurfMax vs GigaSurf vs All Out Surf Prepaid Data Promo : Which One Is Right For You?
Contrary to what many subscribers believe, Smart Communications still has an unlimited all-day data prepaid promo. It's not quite as generous as the previous Smart UnliSurf offer but at least it doesn't have a fixed data cap.
My broadband connection at home was acting up last week so I decided to subscribe to a Smart Prepaid data promo on my smartphone as I needed to upload a large video on Youtube for one of my clients.
I browsed through Smart's current offerings - AllOutSurf, GigaSurf, and SurfMax - and compared their data packages and limitations. Here's what I found out:
1. AllOutSurf promos have the smallest open access data allocation for a given period but it comes with Unlimited Facebook use (with Photos and Videos), Unli SMS, and a several minutes of calls.
2. GigaSurf has slightly larger data allocation and the same call-and-text packs as AllOutSurf but doesn't offer Unli-FB.
3. SurfMax promos, which are slightly more pricey than AllOutSurf and GigaSurf - have the largest data allocation of the bunch; In fact, they don't have any specific data cap. However, subscribers can only enjoy optimal speeds for up to 1GB, Once this amount of data has been consumed, internet speeds will be throttled with speeds varying until 12 midnight. Unlike AllOutSurf and GigaSurf, though, SurfMax doesn't come with any call and text services.
NOTE: Both AllOutSurf and GigaSurf promos now come with at least 1GB of Free Data for Youtube -- but this does not cover video uploads. You can simply use the allocation for watching clips. I've tried this and that's what I found it.
Given the requirement that I mentioned above, I chose SurfMax 50, which gave me 800MB of Open Access Data at optimal speeds and with no data cap.
I subscribed to it because - in that instance - I didn't really need to have unlimited access to Facebook nor do I need a promo for sending text messages or making calls.
I merely needed to upload a large video file to Youtube as fast as possible then to have enough data for sending the link via email, publishing the clip on my website, then posting the article on my social media accounts and pages.
After I used up my SurfMax 50's 800MB Data at Optimal Speeds, I ran SpeedTest to check just how slow my connection has become after throttling.
I got 15.8 Mbps Download Speed and 5.92 Mbps Upload Speed, which are both not bad at all. Heck, I'd say - overall - the connection was still pretty fast!
To wrap up, let me give you my recommendation on which of these three popular Smart Data Promos you should subscribe to based on your needs:
1. If you use your mobile data connection mostly for browsing Facebook, chatting on Messenger, and uploading photos and videos to that specific social media site all while having the need to send text messages, to make calls, to send light emails, or to play mobile games like Mobile Legends Bang Bang, All Out Surf promos would be better for you.
2. If you're not really on Facebook often but you still need to have enough data for sending large files or for playing big-data role-playing mobile games and you need to stay connected though SMS and calls, GigaSurf promos are more ideal for you.
3. Now, if you need to send large files really fast through email or to upload videos quickly to Youtube and you must have internet connection left throughout the day - with no need for call and text services, SurfMax is the one you should be looking at.
