PLDT, Smart Present eSports and Gaming Summit 2018
As the eSports and Gaming Summit 2018 (ESGS 2018) approaches, the eSports
community in the Philippines is getting even more excited.
This event, which will be held at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City
from October 26 to 28, 2018, is the largest gaming convention in the
country. It is sponsored by PLDT Home Fibr and
Smart Communications, Inc. and will feature exhibits, cosplay
competitions, fan games, and activities at their booths.
ESGS 2018 will also host the highly anticipated finals of the "Road
to the Nationals" tournament, which aims to find the best DOTA 2 and Tekken
7 players in the Philippines.
More than PHP 1.5 Million in Prizes, Up for Grabs!
In the past weeks, hundreds of gamers have participated in the different legs
of the ‘Road to the Nationals’ tournament in hopes of winning the championship
title, which comes with prizes worth over Php1.2 million for DOTA 2 and PHP
300,000 for Tekken 7.
The winners, along with the other finalists, will also have the opportunity to
be selected by the founding teams of The Nationals. These founding teams,
which include PLDT-Smart, Cignal, HappyFeet, Bren Esports, TNC Pro Team, and
STI Holdings, make up the country's first-ever eSports franchise model league
that aims to develop top-notch Philippine representatives for major
international eSports events.
Final stretch to ESGS 2018
Teams from various cities across the Philippines have qualified for the final
rounds of the DOTA 2 and Tekken 7 tournaments at ESGS 2018.
The DOTA 2 teams include TaskUs Titans from Iloilo, Voyager from Bacolod, Quid
Pro Quo from Manila, Sterling Global Dragons from Manila, and Davao's Pride
from Davao.
The Tekken 7 finalists include Francis Steven Valencia "UFTC Gogoy" Cabahug
from Cebu, Raymund Jay "Limitbreak" Sarte from Cagayan de Oro, and Jade
"ArkAngel.Janine" Yasay from Davao.
There will also be a Mobile Legends tournament as part of the "Road to the
Nationals."
To participate, gamers can join the regional qualifiers on Oct. 13 in Imus,
Cavite for DOTA 2, or on Oct. 6 and Oct. 14 in Playbook-Makati and Oct. 13 in
Secret Base-Marikina for Tekken 7.
