Vivo NEX Dual Display Edition Price, Specs, and Features : A Vlogger's Dream Cameraphone?
Vivo Mobile's new flagship smartphone will blow your mind!
Officially announced through an exclusive media event in Shanghai, China on Tuesday - December 11, 2018, Vivo NEX Dual Display Edition - as its name suggests - features two screens, one in front and one at the back, giving users a multi-faceted mobile experience -- literally!
Vivo's decision to put an additional 5.49-inch FullHD SuperAMOLED panel at the back was most likely driven by the company desire to altogether eliminate the notch on the handset's 6.39-inch FullHD+ front screen.
Instead of creating a protruding/rising mechanism or a small dot that houses a front-facing selfie camera, Vivo merely put a secondary screen at the back to allow the user to also use the powerful Triple Rear Camera module - made up of a 12 MegaPixel f/1.79 camera + 2 MegaPixel Depth Sensor for Bokeh Effect + Time of Flight TOF shooter for getting depth information and capturing the finest details on the face or on any object - for snapping the clearest selfies ever! Heck, the TOF camera can even get a 3D image of your face capturing its most intricate contours.
To switch from using the larger front screen to the one at the back, simply click a dedicated hardware button on the left side/panel of the device.
If you're a vlogger, you'd be glad to know that the Vivo NEX Dual Display Edition allows you to use the phone's powerhouse triple rear cam set-up for recording 4K 30fps videos of yourself while narrating a scene. Since you can see your face in the back-screen, it will be easier for you to frame each clip properly.
On top of that, you can even connect a lapel mic or an external shotgun microphone to the handset's 3.5mm audio jack to ensure that your sound quality will be as clear as the video.
Aside from the Dual Display set-up, one of the distinguishing physical features of this model would have to be its photo and video 'ring light', which illuminates more parts of the face for more crisp self-portraits.
As for internal hardware, this device runs its Funtouch OS 4.5 skinned Android 9.0 Pie operating system with a 10nm Octa Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor - which remains beastly despite being almost a year old, breezes through multiple open apps and games with a whopping 10GB of RAM, and comes with 128GB of non-expandable storage. The handset is powered by a non-removable 3,500 mAh Li-Ion battery pack that supports 10V fast charging through the USB Type C port.
According to Mr. Spark Ni - Senior Vice President of Vivo Mobile, "As Vivo’s premium line-up, the NEX series offers not only an extraordinary user experience to consumers, it also unleashes our imagination towards the future of design and development of smartphones."
"Combining a futuristic dual-display design and innovative technologies, NEX Dual Display
Edition demonstrates Vivo’s continuous exploration and pursuit of exceptional innovations for consumers," he added.
Vivo NEX Dual Display Edition, which is only available in one color currently - Polar Blue, dons an official suggested retail price of CNY 4,998 in China or around PHP 40,000 with current conversion and before taxes.
As yet, Vivo Mobile Philippines hasn't confirmed if this stellar flagship model will be a launched in our country -- but in case it would be made available here, my local price guesstimate for it would be within the range of PHP 40,000 to PHP 43,000.
